Basically sounds ok but it isn't 'cos the test for one regime will mean that the tank is tested in a manner which exceeds the requirements for the other test, once a dual bottle is tested it will remain that type of bottle...the reason they can put the test label for both prior to retesting is that the spec of the bottle has been submitted to BOTH bodys for verification that it meets their needs and as it does it can be labelled DOT and HSE, once the label runs out you are stuck with the test it now uses...all regulation gobbledegook but its there. Think how awkward this situation will become when Americans start to sell retested Angel AIR tanks...and of course the same applies for Brits selling retested bottles. Buy a used bottle before it needs testing or find a bottle that needs to be tested but "hasn't" that would work but unlikely to happen. The only (current) alternative to the WDP bottle is Smart Parts.
i think someone owes me an apology:) :D :p

that may only be OK if the site owner allows you to use the bottle on thier site. Due to the vagueries of the law, site owners may not wish to risk their insurance cover.
also as a foreign national I would assume his dive tank will be DOT tested and as you cannot travel with a full tank. How is he going to fill that

just my 2p worth

yes it is correct that no site or business will fill dot tanks but you should all be aware that it is ILLEGAL for ANYONE to fill a dot tank in the uk.....it is ok for people to say fill it your self and you will be ok but you are still breaking the law by filling it!

our test laws are to hse standards for a reason, this reason being that these are the laws that our goverment has decided are the best to keep YOU and others around you SAFE.

can we please now stop this discusion...unless the law changes that is.

do NOT fill dot tanks in the uk.....PERIOD

and the DOT laws are also devised to keep you and others around you safe.

Just cuz you've had your say doesn't mean the thread should stop. So saying please 'can we stop this thread now' isn't going to achieve anything. Others may want to put in their 2P's worth too.

I say there should be an international standard instead of HSE/DOT. Seems very ridiculous to me. What is safe here in europe (DOT) is going to be just as safe in the UK - just cuz it's in another country doesn't mean the bottle is going to suddenly explode. And likewise with HSE, they would be just as safe over here......

Cum on, wheres that international standard.......

i didnt say the thread should stop i ment it more as people should stop advising others to break the law.....ive seem countless people on here and in person hint at or say out right that if you fill a DOT bottle yourself then its ok...it isnt its ILLEGAL

definatly agree with you on an international standard being needed or an agreement between international standard agencys allowing more flexiblility.....i know that just cos a bottle is dot tested doesnt meen its a 'bad' bottle i was pointing out the legal side of things
