air / testing

I have seen that the angel AIR tanks/elec reg are both HSE and DOT approved. Is this the only manufacturer that does this?

I'm currently living in Belgium and we have to use DOT here. That means I can't bring my DOT tank to UK to play (which I'm planning on doing a few trips soon) and i don't wanna have to get a HSE tank just for that.

The paintball community being the friendly group it is, I have had an offer of someones spare HSE tank when I come to play ! Outstanding friendliness us paintballers! Fleisher - Yo da man!!! :D

BUT.... just wondering if I can get a tank that is approved by both DOT and HSE so I can play anywhere. And preferably not angel AIR prices

eh?

That can't be right surely?

If the bottle was originally approved by both organisations, then it's only logical that you can put it in for re- testing at approved test centres for each organisation.

What I mean is that I should be able to send it to be tested at an HSE retest place . When it's OK there , then I put it in at an approved DOT test centre and then I have both.

Well that's the logical theory, I suppose you gonna tell me it doesn't work like that in practice.....

Basically sounds ok but it isn't 'cos the test for one regime will mean that the tank is tested in a manner which exceeds the requirements for the other test, once a dual bottle is tested it will remain that type of bottle...the reason they can put the test label for both prior to retesting is that the spec of the bottle has been submitted to BOTH bodys for verification that it meets their needs and as it does it can be labelled DOT and HSE, once the label runs out you are stuck with the test it now uses...all regulation gobbledegook but its there. Think how awkward this situation will become when Americans start to sell retested Angel AIR tanks...and of course the same applies for Brits selling retested bottles. Buy a used bottle before it needs testing or find a bottle that needs to be tested but "hasn't" that would work but unlikely to happen. The only (current) alternative to the WDP bottle is Smart Parts.

I'm pretty sure that you can use a DOT bottle over here as long as you fill it yourself from your own air tank. No sites or fill stations will do it for you.:D
