Air System

Ok can anyone help me?

I have just bought a Pure Energy 4500psi / 68 / air system from America, however i have just been told that it may cause problems at tournaments with it not meeting british standards??

Has anyone else heard of simular problems?

Cant think of any problems, as long as you have a 4500psi rated bottle and reg.

Yeah i hope it doesnt, but it was Air Gun Designs who originally got me thinking...

However the bottles are advertised all over the big magazines (Facefull / PGI ect.....) i cant see it being a problem, ill just have to use my mates dive tank.

I have yet to even be checked on a bottle date or anything of the sort. Im either lucky or everyone assumes that everything is good to go.

My hydro date is good by the way...........i think.

The problem is whether its DOT or HSE certified. DOT is the US safety standard and HSE is European. HSE is a stricter standard that DOT and for an european person to use a DOT certified bottle is illegal for safety reason. However if you a visiting Yank to Europe to play tornaments etc your exempt.

Lots or tourneys don't check bottles but lots do, I was playing once when a guy went for chronoing and the judge noticed his bottle was out of date, so he had change bottles.

So yep there is problems i'm afraid!!!

DOT - i hate that word!!!

Oh well, ill speak to PMI and see if they can recommend anything..

Well I'll start off by saying I could be wrong ....but give Planet a ring I heard that they were testing DOT bottles to HSE levels
bit like a Jap imported car is tested to our MOT standards
If they this is correct it is a bit of a s@*t that you have to have a nice shiney bottle tested but better to be safe? bloody bottles are all made the same way
of course you could always sell it and buy an A.I.R. they are dual certificated

Ive just bought an AIR. Anyone know where I can get a nice stainless overbraid pipe to connect it up with?? Looks much nicer than plastic hose I think.

Iceman, Planet sell Steel braided hose....I stopped using it cos it like having wire wool on your gun, if it rubs against the ano it scratches the hell out of it.

As Mark said the DOT bottle could be tested to HSE level, theres no reason why it can't. They are the same bottle at the end of it all the testing only works as an insurance certificate. So wander on to a euro site with a DOT and it blows up on you then all Insurance for the site etc. would be invalidated.

So it aint all bad!!

Cheers for the replys, i have spoke to Ledz @ Planet and he explained he will test DOT - DOT, but not DOT - HSE.....
Does anyone know where i can get this done?

Are there any other bottle testing places in the UK?
