Just for the record: I had to rebuild my AIR system twice and it broke again a third time not allowing me to fill it over 3200 psi (I think the main seal is blown up but didn't have the time to check it yet).

It was completely full of crap every time I opened it (and yes, I cleaned it up after the first time I rebuilt it).

so true, why should player safety be put at risk in order to save money?? get the guys from H PAC who know what they're doing on site. if self filling fill slowly. anyone who gets inpatient about waiting for someone to safely fill their tank can f$*k off!

why risk a serious injury for 30 seconds more of your time???

as for filling stations that don't allow a gradual fill via a tap, well they have no place in paintball:mad:

Button or tap

The push button system was actually introduced to improve safety, if you have a tap and your system goes bang you gotta get in and turn the tap off with hoses etc flying around still pissing air at 4500. Momentary fills with a button that vents cuts pressure the moment you jump back cos your system went bang, what we need now is a way of increasing the fill pressure sowly, oh and clean air with filtration.

Maybe a combnation of button and tap tho then you have to trust the guy before you to have turned it back down.

There were a guy in Toulouse who almost lost his eye to that filling station. The elbow raptured on his air system and a shard cut his eyelid barely missing his eyeballs.

The stress involved flash filling is ernomous. The air system has to take the stress from 0bar to 300bar in a matter of seconds! Incredibile stress in a really short time. This wears the bottle the regulator and the fittings out really fast!!

Most people havent realized how much pressure 300bar is! The standard car tire is filled with 2-2,5bar. There are numerous accidents involving truckdrivers and 10-15bar filled trucktires severely wounding/killing them. (they attempt to fix leaking tires still under pressure)

We are running around with 20 times that pressure in our hands. At the filling station there are always a lot of people and a rapturing tank has the same effect as a hand grenade would.

Now go and play with that mental picture and then tell me flash filling is not an issue!

On top of that manufacturers and laws require that:

All HP tanks/bottles MUST be visually inspected EVERY YEAR (!!!) by an authorized tester.

Composite tanks/bottles MUST be hydroed in every 3 years!!!

After 15 years all composite tanks/bottles MUST be rendered useless and never be used again!!!!!

Peace

Remember people we are risking this:

Now imagine this happening wile your gear is in your hand!

Can I just mention before people freak out seeing that bottle picture the following. It is a 4500psi bottle, but has been filled to about 10,000psi before it exploded, before people think that was a result of flash filling :)

If your gonna post a picture mate make sure you give the facts with it otherwise you will just freak people out man :)

Cheers

Dave

P.S. You kicking about tomorrow Iain? Am debating having a pop over fella :)
