Nick, do you not think it'd work if u 'officially' tested the water, way in advance of any event with the "customers" ?

I mean, if u were to put out a full list of all 'available' bunkers to the public and get them to design the fields they wanted, once all the designs are in, take em' and use them ideas, with existing designs already proven? Kinda like putting everyones head together and not just the ms. Then in theory, not many people can then complain and bitch cause they've had their chance to change it!

??

Wouldnt the MS still add or change the designs regardless?

Thinking of it.....yes!

How are we to know the designs submitted by the 'customer' are actuallly gonna be looked at anyhows?

Unless, the only other option is for the ms to have a poll on a handfull of designs for each field. in advance of the event. Therefore people could actually pick the desired design. And the ms could take an average and then go for that field perhaps.

Something that makes me laugh, is that only a few people on here are moaning about the fields, i liked the fields in Paris, and so did many of the people i talked to at the event. Who wants to play boring lane shooting ball when you can play in yur face aggressive ball?

Paintballers by nature are the most apathetic bunch in the world. The MS have opened up the field design to a comittee, and publiscised that they would do this, but very few people actually respnded and put forward ideas. What more is the MS to do? Hold a gun to each players head and make them design a field and send it in to the MS?????

Players need to either stop moaning, or moan but then actually send something into the MS suggesting ideas. I am sure that there are planty of people out there with good ideas, but what good is it if they just either keep them to themselves, or moan and do nothing more?

The fields in Paris were agressive and were superb, i say congrats to the MS. And congrats to Laurent for the hard work that he put in! Was much appreciated!

Players are often too quick to critiscise, and not quick enough to offer congratulations or credit where it is obviously due.

Congrats Laurent, nice one :)

I haven't been to the millennium series since 03, so I'm not sure what has changed. But some of the best fields I have seen to date are from Toulouse 03 (Splatch and RPS final fields), these two fields had open lanes, but enough bunkers to allow the aggressive teams to take lots of ground if they wanted to. Here are some pics:

*the stands up were staggered

The NPPL center court field this year hav been very good as well. Lots of bunkers, but its not a cluster ***. Still room to lane, room to run, able to make quick bumps, exciting games to watch and play.

*the pieces between the segments of the snake are standups, changed the way you play the snake, made it a lot of fun.

Just some suggestions for good field designs.

hmm, ...

..., from a vendors point of view, this event has been by far one of the best in Europe. Lots of outside spectators in the tradeshow area, ... nice crew with lot of helpful support (special thanks goes to Odile), VIP area has been superb (and I have seen a lot of em so far), ... good job Laurent, ...

paris had its good and bad points,
as usual the marshalling was inconsistent, with definite bias to some teams /nationalities on some fields and excellent judging on others.
the event was played on a great surface, apart from the chronic field which appeared to be made up from the left over pieces of matting and was the only field which had gaps and the like between the mats, they would have benefited from a proper clean up at the end of each days play though.
players area was good with designated tents for the teams, although it would have been nice if they had been cleaned out overnight as well.
site on the whole was pretty cluttered and spectating most of the fields was impossible from the players area due to banners on the netting, the finals were also hard to view because the stand was full and the field could only be seen from one side for the public.
why wasnt the players car park open on thursday.
why wasnt there more catering facilities with affordable food and drinks for participants and what happened to the free water we got in the milleniums last year.
the scoreboard in the players area was a great idea if only it had been up to date and correct.
the programme was an excellent idea to promote and explain the game to the public, it's a shame the announcers werent a bit more informed.
i know it seems like i'm moaning but the millenium board promised us bigger and better than ever before and i dont think they delivered. i look forward to campaign in the hope that they take on board some peoples comments.

Toulouse 03 did indeed have awesome fields.

The Paris fields, although they look cluttered, I would think were fun to work out, and even more fun to play on. Surely on each field you would walk it properly, and surely then you would come up with a decent game plan.
If you then lose on said field, its a matter of a) your plan was cr@p b) their plan was better.

Just see it as a challenge.
