Just read in a thread about guns that are fast.....why? I mean why do you have to have a fast marker?

<I>To quote Phillip on the <B>'Why the sudden shift in E-blades?'</B> thread </I>

<I>Kyle, tell us. Why does any gun need to be fast? To make up for lack of skill? Or is it for bragging rights eh? Or maybe its just the companies telling us that to make a bigger stack.</I>

I agree, why can't a company put some R&D into a barrel or marker that will consistantly put paint on top of each other after every pull. There are some that come close but in that vital second it takes to aim you have to be sure that your going to hit him/her!

Personally I wouldn't mind going onto a field with a marker that is single shot so long as I know that when I pull the trigger the ball is going exactly where I'm aiming.

Just my opinion obviously and I apoligise if I have made an error anywhere but I just want to see a show of hands..... Anyone for speed over accuracy on the left and anyone for Accuracy over speed on the right.

(Please note that I can't see you do this so just leave a thread!:D)

Oh and don't bite my balls off about it, if I'm being nieve then just say and tell me where I can buy the barrel that will do the whole accuracy thing!!!

Cheers

You're blaming the wrong two components in the 'Player-marker-barrel-paint' axis...

In laymans terms it is the projectile itself (i.e. the paintballs) that causes deviations in accuracy.

If you could have perfectly shaped balls (insert your own gag here) and no wind turbulence (insert your own gag here too) whilst playing you would no doubt find that existing equipment is far more accurate than you would imagine.

Buy good paint and you will get better accuracy...

As Duff has implied, there are few - if any - markers/barrels out there that will have a significant negative impact on accuracy.

The user/shooter/player will always have the biggest impact on accuracy; if you can't even point your marker in the right direction, you won't even hit the barn. Adrenaline rush and fear, both resulting in rushed shots, can also reduce accuracy, even for those who are otherwise accurate at the firing range.

Paint is the next factor. Poor quality paint will result in winging and velocity inconsistencies. Even the best quality paint will suffer both to a limited degree, it's the nature of the paintball in general: a relatively slow, relatively uneven, spherical projectile.

Sure, markers can have an effect - a misaligned barrel or ill-maintained/designed regulator, for example - but even the budget markers are generally produced with a precision that effectively eliminates this when compared to the effects of user and paint.

if you fire a string of 15 balls at a runner in a second, then there is no way he'll get through..... only fire 5 and you leave gaps. How about supression? firing next to a bunker to catch his head next time he looks out? high fire rate lets you do that. Snap shooting is all well and good, but if he's playing tight and just popping out then he'll be in before an aimed shot gets him.
Anyway, all of this complaining about high ROF is crap anyway, getting a high ROF out of a semi is a skill, I can manage about 12 bps on the field..... that's with an ironman timmy, halo etc.... mebbe I'll go a little quicker with the Q-loader. But I've got top end kit, so how come I'm not a PRO yet? simple, as long as everyone is using similar kit, it all comes down to the player.. and even the bottom divisions are using E-blades etc..... So as long as everyone is permitted the same kit, it's all fair. Go play stock class if it bothers you...... we are still limited to one pull, one ball........so it's down to the player. A high ROF just means the marker is cycling fast and will be consistent....... a player who can get 28 bps has a skill I don't possess..... good luck to him.
As for accuracy? well there's only so much you can do with a ball of goo.
