The vista SP1 makes very little difference, if any. A friend of my has a PC shop, and was given the opportunity to test it.

It makes a difference if you have a **** pc, installed it here on high spec and noticed nothing bar maybe a few seconds faster load times occasionally?

Either way, XP i needed a reformat and reload every 3-4 months as it would SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW down to untolarable and unfixable levels, this Vista has been going from before offical release day with 0 problems, zilch, nada, nothing.

The only people I see complaining about Vista are those on low end ready built from Dell ect PC's.

So they managed to cater for those who can build their own high spec pc's. Well done Microsoft.

and for the other 95% of the population who buy ready built ones with Vista preinstalled they have to put up with a slower system.

Can you see how much I care for those people? Amazing isnt it.

My point being, Vista is fine, people who bash it should get a better PC.

I got vista when I got my new laptop and I love it, mainly because I really can't see a massive difference. It's just a bit easier to use. And there's a virtual post-it note and a slide show on my desktop, what more could I want? :D

If you can get into the BIOS (usually pressing Delete key repeatedly while booting), you can then change it to boot from Disc, from boot from c: and then use your CD and see if that helps.

Also. Vista Home Premium, cant see more than about 3Gb of RAM anyway, even if you tried to install 8Gb. XP Liked to have 2Gb of RAM (even if it was the older, slower PC3200 etc RAM) so actually, Vista isn't quite as RAM dependent as people make out.

Does like 3Gb though.

You need Vista 64 if you want much more RAM, but the driver issues with Vista 64, are worse that the 32 bit variety.

Vista rocks.

XP also rocks, but in it's own way.
