A thought expirement: "Sleeper Cocker"

Actually, my idea isn't to modify my '95.

My idea is to buy a junker cocker (at least in the eyes of the previous owner), and keep the body stock, and mod the hell out of the internals.

Tehn go rip up the guys with Impys and Bushmasters who all claim to have the best setup, while they wonder how in the hell an OLD 'Cocker is out-shoting them. THEN, watch them spend hours with the switchwork.... :)

To me, that would be rewarding. To make people spend hours trying to figure out WHY their work of art is being out-shot by somoene with a 'clunker'. :)

Newbies don't care, IMHO. Anyone with their own gun is a pro. "Wow, he's got a cool looking gun! What's that called?" "A stingray (Spyder, Piranha, etc)." "Wooooaaaahhhhhh"

I guess to me, as long as the RAM keeps up and the 3-way allows your trigger travel to be short enough, it's all about how the trigger feels. Just my feeling though.

I remember one time I sent a couple of my friends off to the beginner game with a couple of my nicer guns and I got them past the first ref, but the 2nd ref, on the field wouldn't let them play 'cause I started "prettyfying" my guns. I felt bad for them later on when I found out that they got denied, then wandered around SC looking for the advanced game and never really found it.

tyger: if you are looking for a marker to use to do this id be more than happy to sell you use my 95 minicocker...i have all the stock parts still (except the hammer and dialer) so it could be returned to stock condition....as i mentioned before its been a bit of a 'sleeper' for a while using an eclipse bolt, hammer and modded valve and a benchmark 45 frame but other than that is stock.
i was planning on selling it so that i can buy new internals for my vert-feed cocker.
heres my ideas tho.....
*replace all the internals to eclipse spec (or similar)
f*ind a bolt that has a black end, remove the loc-pin bits and use the stock pin
*leave the front shoud on so noone can see whats under the front end
*use a black 45 frame and an extreame rage roller trigger (possibly mod a set of factory grips to go on the frame - shouldnt be impossible)
*get a set of black anodised or coated rods so they look stock
*possibly get a short barrel anodised the same horrible green colour as the stock one
*find a way to 'hide' a reg inside a 3 1/2oz co2 bottle so that it looks like you are using an expansion bottle NOT a reg?
*run it bottom lined (no drop) and on co2

should look like the oldest cocker on the planet but shoot like a dream! infact if i hadnt bought a new cocker already id be tempted to build it myself!

let me know if you are interested, id also be more than happy to help write the artical with you if you like....been trying to think of something i might be able to get printed for years!

Jahlad...thats the best idea in this thread I've heard...other than my own :D :D "hide a reg in a 3.5 Bottle"..the difficulty etc but what a great idea...have to drill a hole in the bottom then you would be able to adjust it but that wouldn't be seen...getting the gas to flow into the reg would be very very difficult as most of the regs the gas goes into the side, the wdp reg doesn't but then you can't have the hose go into the bottom of the bottle. Tyger this idea needs looking at :)

yer i been thinking about how to do it but as the inlet of a 3.5 expantion tank is also in the side if you drilled into the bottle near the neck then ran a macro line into the bottle it would look pritty real....or another thought i had before would be to use a fake bottle...a cast plastic one maybe...but would look real enough!

eather way wouldnt be easy but would be good to pull it off!

heheh this is EXACTLY why i like to play with pump guns! :D
there is nothing more satisfying than mugging someone waving a £1000 gun at you then seeing his face as you re-cock!

The "Bottle Reg"

I thought of this one since it was brought up. I like Jahlad's idea of tapping the bottle then running in macroline, but assembly on it would either be like building a ship in a bottle or an expirement in miniatures.

I was thinking of taking an old 3.5 tank, remove the bottom and velve assembly entirely. Then assemble the reg inline so it directly screws into the ASA in front of the trigger guard. Then build some kind of 'false bottom', but then the key it so somehow make it stay on there. Possibly use a neoprene 'bottle protector'?

The other thought is to take an expansion chamber, hollow it out and call it a "Gas Thru Grip". That way the reg dialer cold be explained as something like that, plus it's camouflaged as a bit that was common in the 90's. Well, they still are I guess, but oyu know what I mean.

Alternatively, Related to this, anyone know where I can get somoene to install hardline on an autococker? I want my hardline back on my personal monster, it's really bad-ass old school looks. And, on this project, it'd look pretty cool too. As much as braided hose would look more "Sleeper", I'm willing to go one flashy thing to satisfy my old-school desire. :)

EDIT ADD!

This year, I was playing with my SC PHantom. On a Hyperball field, I ran up to get the last guy to surrender. When I got there, however, the guy was facing me, had his barrel in my face, and it was a gent in DYE threads. I've been burned too many times in my life, so I shot. ONE BALL, which was all I COULD shoot at a time. The dude goes totally Ape $#!t. The guy says a lot of things to me that I can't repeat on a family forum, packed his gear, and sulked in his truck the rest of the day waiting for his friends.

I walked up to one of his friends and asked him "Is that guy just pissed off because he was bunkered by a stock gun?" And the friend tried not to laugh too hard. Sheesh.

yer hiding a reg inside a gas-thru would work but i think a 3.5 would be more in keeping with the 'magic clunker' idea! taking the neck and bottom off a bottle then using a neoprene cover seems the most logical route to go

as for your mugging....nice one!
ive got a nice scar from mugging someone about 6 months ish ago...on a corner to corner game i ran down the long side of the field carrying a sniper2 went face first with a guy using i think an ir3 hit him with my first shot, ran past and hit the 2nd guy as the first unloaded about 30 shots point blank into pritty much the same spot on my back! hurt like hell! but the marshal (who also got hit) called me clean and i ended up lay on the floor with 5 or 6 of the other team not quite sure wether to shoot me or not! so i lit a few more up before they leathered me again! i laughed my ass off! then winced a little!

project sleeper! onward and upward!

I've been looking in my old mags, and I've got some great pics of the Ironmen shooting their 'cockers from early 90's (pre nitrogen), and there' a lot of expansion chambers on there. I'm still kinda leaning to the expansion chamber / regulator look. And hardline. :) Hardline is old school.

So, umm, internals? Bolts?
