has anyone ever seen or heard of a pb marker that doesnt run of gas, as myself and some friends may make a pump style prototype (ive designed a self cocking semi...but its a bit complex) that runs on electricity, not gas :p

just wanna check if any exist? just incase were gonna waste our time im not gonna explain how it works as it breaches patents and stuff (just to let you know its not a big spring or anything like that)

two physics experts ive talked to reckon it should work :)

I take it you havn't built it yet then? sounds interesting kinda like a Gauss system? (thats a magnetic delivery system) is the system you have come up with bulky? cos if it ain't and it works well you may have a truly revolutionary idea (doubt your the first though) check out the patent office you don't want to get sued by BE now do you:D

i'd like to hear more about gauss?

the design is very compact itself...short by gas powered standards. i have no doubts that it'll be able to acheive a descent rate of fire, and my design is very lite, but im afraid there may be a large amount of kick forward (yes forward). But i think i should beable to minimise that :)

is there anyway of checking the patent office online or anything, cos patent officers are quite expensive...i designed and made a segmented paintball that in theory would be spun more effectively a while back but never bothered to take my prototype any further.

to stop you guessing too much, its firing mechanism slightly resembles that of the japanese bullet train and of the railgun but much simpiler

forgive me if im wrong...................but, doesnt the rail gun principle work on the basis that electro magnets run in sequence to accelerate a projctile to speed...............a projectile which is attracted be magnets....................as in METAL.

i dont see how any sort of rail gun system could work in a paintball context, but im willing to be put right...........

:D

Shooting metal balls at 300, 200, HELL 100 fps would hurt, right? :D I'm guessing there is a metal cradle that hold the ball, it gets accelerated by the magnets. Am I getting close?

STTAB it does sound interesting but have you considered the power sorce needed. One of the reasons that there is not and electro ram for the cocker is that it would require a considerably large battery.

P8ntball2k unless I'm thinking of a different rail gun then you are the projectiles are sopposed to be made of alumminum witch is not affected the same way by magnets that you are thinking. The magnets in a rail gun create what is in essence a magnetic field that can propel or hold any substance. In physics labs it has been tryed and tested, and shown that this is fesiable but the problem is still the power sorse.

Na your all wrong here.
true that rail guns work on magnetism but you forget that a paintball is only a plastic ball filled with paint, and plastic can be given a static charge, if you give the ball a positve charge and push it in front of a moving positive charge it can be propelled forward at speed.
the only problem is that the electronics and timing are complicated to perform and then the power consumption is quite high. this would be a cool idea for tourney games as you watch a player running for his 1st bunker and seeing him get pulled back by the mains power flex that the fat b@st@rd back player has decided to stand on.:D

remember patents are only as powerful as teh company that owns them, a person could have a paten on anything but if that person doesnt have the money to defend that paten in court, then it's as good as never having it to begin with ...

So basicly what I'm saying is, create away, the worst thing that'll happen is you have to pay royalities on each one sold. I'm sure that's what going to happen with this BE vs. HALO thing ...
