Take Tommy for example he works for PMI he gets x amount of days holiday a year and he uses 90% of those to play paintball. He does have to take time off without pay so he can forefill his obligation to the team, if he worked for another industry he would not attend all the events, ask Bowen how he copes, Jamie Abbott self Employed but loses money when ever he goes away, Juniour same as bow.

These are just some examples.

The argument falls down if you have no intention of playing the big events and just want to play on a sunday!

I work with Junior and its hard for him.
I know he gets 20 days a year and he needs or has about 30 to 35 days a year to play ball with Nexus so 10 to 15 days a year or unpaid.

Our Boss is very good to him but he puts a lot of time in at work so he can play paintball, but its all down to how good your boss is in or out the industry.

My advice to anyone leaving school and wanting a career with money (maybe not at 1st) is to get yourself a trade. Electrician, plumber, carpenter, tiler, painter/decorator, landscape gardner etc.

Hey Jase, I am a little confused why you think I have suffered because of the industry that I work in

I have worked in the industry since I was 15, doing various things and for nearly the past 2 years I have worked at PMI. No offence is meant by this bud, but working a warehouse for 6 months does not give you a well rounded view of the 'Industry'. Different employers and companies are different to the amount of holiday (Game time) that you can get. You have to make sure that everything is clear when you start working.

I have enjoyed everything I have done with PMI, through the highs and lows that inevitably happen. Mabye playing for Nexus helped with this, but I deffinately wouldnt have played as much as as I have this season if I was working a regular 9-5.
It can be hard being involved with paintball 24-7, and trying not to get caught up in the politics, but that is the choice we all make. I would never tell anyone not to give it a shot. Unfortunately you won't know if it is for you untill you have tried it; the same with any new job.

That is just my personal oppinion from my experiences.

All the best with whatever you guys decide to do,

Tommy
hey tommy hope ur well buddy!

ok well from my experience in the industry (however short it was) i have realised that there are alot of liers and there is so much Sh*t involved even at the largest companys. ive heard a few things involved with u and pmi, that in my opinion have been unfair on u. yes piper has let u play sh*t loads and he is a decent bloke maybe another employer wouldnt do this for u, but i believe that u are at a standard so much higher than ur playing at and ive seen that, just my opinion your being held back buddy:(

no bad vibes should come from this post at all, i still luv all u guys :D :p :D

tommy ill see u at campaign m8 if ur there, first round is on me;)

I work for Norwich Union, have done for 3 and a half years. I'm on decent money, get 5 weeks holidays plus Flexi Time (which is up to another 2 days off per month, you just have to work up the hours at a later date) plus they own a gym in Norwich so you get membership dirt cheap (i'm not a member though, I'm a fat *******).

And I work as a Marshall most Saturdays, play paintball maybe twice a month at the moment. But I'm just getting into it and will be looking at trying to get onto some sort of team next year.. I could afford to play a lot more but my girlfriend's out of work at the minute so I'm covering rent etc just from the single salary.

I'm also extremely envious of anyone doing a job that they love :p I'd much rather be working in something paintball related than working with pensions..

Thats life though mate, not many people can make loads of cash doing something they love. Use your job as a tool to get you the things you want in life.

Write yourself a goal and stick it on the wall.

In my opinion the biggest thing you need in paintball is a supportive partner/family or a missus who is glad to get rid of you at weekends. If you can find a woman who plays hang on tight.
