First off on behalf of the Old Gits, of who i some how became the captain, (I think it was too far to walk to the captains meeting for the others) I want to say thanks to everyone for a great days paintballing.
Thanks to Wayne for a well run day, and hats off for striking a very good balance between a tight professional day and a relaxed atmosphere. This was no mean feat with the mix of levels of players which ranged from first time walk on players to seasoned Pro players with well over 20yrs of paintball under their expanding belts.
Thanks to the marshals, who i feel on the whole did a brilliant job and dealt with one or two unnecessary moments with the utmost professionalism and maintained a smile through out the day.
And just to respond.......
The uncapped ramping accusation was not false! and i never claimed it was hot! it was also never proved either way as the gun could not be tested I had every right to ask for it to be checked it was shooting at me and my friends i don’t care if you get your face blown out and probably most people on this forum couldn’t give a crap either.
i was stood later on with the organiser listening to that gun shoot and he agreed it was well over 15 your guy didn’t have a clue what he was talking about he had the nerve board set to rebound 2 all that does is effect the kick in it doesn’t effect the overall speed that is effected by dwell and recharge
I can’t really comment on this as at no time did i come across anyone who i felt was ramping over 15bps. I do think that most people played within the sprit of the game and stuck to the rules. Remember that many of the people there were not 'Pro' players and i know that a few people did not really know their kit very well. And anyway in my opinion, anyone who ramps in the woods is a bit of an idiot and is just asking for a large paint bill at the end of the day for no gain, its not Supair and ramping does not really give you that much of an advantage. I know that no one on our team used ramping and in fact we had one Mech marker... go figure.
The judges were running an event with ramping at 290 fps and above with no way to catch guns shooting over the limit your player woulnt test the gun properly and the judges didnt have a clue either
Im not stupid and know what i am talking about when it comes to paintball electronics.
Fair point. I guess this maybe something to keep in mind for other events and if we go down the ramping road then there should be a way of checking. Remember though this was not a Pro event and everyone was expected and told to play within the rules. If anyone broke this understanding deliberately then they are just idiots that don’t belong in the sport at this level or indeed any sport.
As for the rest of the event what a sham!!! the draw was pathetic with the winning teamplaying a team of complete begginers 3 times in the morning, then i hear from spectators in the final the organiser of the tourney (the brother of the guys team in the final) came on the field to judge changing marshals decisions........ i heard this from marshals and other people there.
I think you need to check yourself a bit there buddy and ask your self why you seem to be the only person who feels that it was a sham.
There were no teams we played 3 times, we did though play the A and B teams from the Assassins in the morning, could it be this you are talking about?
I too was a little confused about the order of play as there were some teams we didn’t appear to be playing, so i asked and i believe that there were actually two leagues as such, maybe this should have been explained a bit better. I think that if MT hadn’t pulled out then the order of play for the rest of the day would have made sense, as it was Wayne had to rapidly rework the order of play to keep the total amount of games played fair.
As for your accusation of 'changing marshals’ decisions', this as far as I know is completely untrue, i would be very careful about repeating hearsay. In fact there was no changing marshal’s decisions to be made in the final, it was a draw with one player eliminated from each side, ask Team Venom. If you would like to back up your accusation with some facts i will be more than happy to answer anything you can put out there that is based on truth.
No doubt you are trying to say that the day was rigged because Rafe who is Wayne’s brother was playing on the team. Believe me nothing could be further from the truth, we were all very aware that this could be an issue and so was Wayne. As a consequence of that we had the marshals all over us all day and we had a fair number of issues with decisions that went against us. But, and I’ll say this in the nicest way possible, all the issues we had were only ever discussed and raised with the head marshal of the field or with Wayne, at no time were any decisions reversed, much to my own annoyance on two occasions. We did not bitch and moan; we got on with the game and focused on playing. I take it as a personal insult that you think we were given the win on the day because of one person on our team being related to the organizer. Perhaps you think that the combined experience of some 100 years of woodland paintball from top Pro players from The Predators, Bad Company, Nam wrecking Crew, The Turks and the Bart’s stud squad count for nothing?
The paint was dreadfull even the guy selling it to me said im sorry its so bad but i have to sell you this stuff and at this price my hands are tied!!!
This happens; did you want him to dirve off and hunt down some better paint there and then? At the Holmbush 5 man the paint was terrible but we just had to work with it and adapt our game, no other paint available = no point in getting pissed about it.
It was a Bring Your Own event and you could have done so, like we did this time.
Its a shame about that even one of the organisers is a really nice guy he even asked for help with the next event
The head judge kept claiming he had 20 years experience what a load of rubbish he had no idea of the rules and just did what he liked
No one was ever chronod on or off the field when one of the judges went out with a hand held the first person he tested shot over 300fps but the organisers bollocked him for testing people!!!!
I had every right to moan i paid more money to enter that event than an nspl leg i have been playing paintball 20 years and have never ever left an event and i have played some bad events! We were being stiffed and so were other teams.
I dont care what you or your team think of me they need to learn how to set up their equipment.
and the orgniser need to realise the implications of running an event ramping with no chronoing of rof testing is disgusting and im sure the ukpsf would love to know about them! because it is sites and organisers like that that will get the sport screwed!
Wayne has been involved in paintball since the early 80s, and has run many a Pro woodland tournament in the past, in fact the score sheets was the norm back then and it was good to see them back. Yes the day was not perfect but I think on the whole it was a good day and I hope the focus was on trying to revive the woodland tournament scene in the UK.
Again, remember this was NOT a Pro event and yes you do have a right to moan BUT all you seem to have done is make yourself look a bit silly and you need to get your facts straight first. In the future maybe instead of moaning you could use your 20yrs experience to help and advise new players and to help improve future events instead of threats of the UKPSF?
Well done Venom for coming in tight behind us and Rob its good to see you are now a Horlicks convert.
I do hope that we see more 5 man woodland tournaments in the future as I feel it is time for this side of paintball to make a come back in the UK.
See you all again soon I hope.
