An island in the rain
If your getting a package, see if you can get the Ion 'Pro' package or similar which comes with a freak jr (ie. freak back and front w/ 1 insert), clamping feedneck, and better ASA, cos the stock ones all suck harry balls and you'll only end up paying more later.

I shot my Tiger Ion for about 10 months and had zero, zilch, nada problems with it :) Just take care of your **** and it shouldn't break as often

get an ion.
i used to own an impy & while they're reliable as hell they're also like house bricks...:)

people may hate ions because they've destroyed the market as someone said...but it's only because so many people have bought one, a starter 2nd hand tourney marker used to be £250 ish at lowest but now you can pick up a stock 2nd hand ion for £90 & upgrade it as you go until you've got something you can compete at a high level with.
Look at the WCU team's, -real high end markers, fast and very very light.

Otherwise, buy an angel- they're only cheap because they're au fait but there's nothing wrong with them, I bought an IR3 a coupla weeks ago & it's almost as fast as my speed, for how much? £95.
And guaranteed, that will not break when you dive, or get it wet in the rain ;)

Peace,
whatever suits you, I recommend trying before you buy though.

Thanks everyone! Lots of food for thought.

I think Ion it is and then start to ruder the old girl up. Im getting pretty tempted now to get a second hand one with upgrades alread in place. I can imagine quite a few Ions coming though here, with everyone upgrading an all. I do like the look of those angels too, but dont think the budget you stretch but you never know...

Ive not realy got the oppertunity to try before I buy? I could go to a shop but would I realy learn anything from firing of some air for 2mins in a shop. Whats more likely to happen is that I drawn to all the shiny metal like a moth to a candle, then someone wispers the word 'credit' in my ear then BAM, £1,200 down!

ha ha... but you may be suprised to know that i think more angels come through here than ion's... or at least in the time i've been watching the classifieds it has :)

if youre buying secondhand, you can normally arrange to meet the seller at a tourney or something and so you can try it there :D but yeah, trying in shops isn't always the best, as some will try and push your budget and yeah, just standing still dry firing wont really tell you everything about a marker.
