2005 Millennium Series

As we are getting closer to the start of the 2005 season opener in Bitburg, Germany I thought it might be a nice time to put my new Millennium hat on and say hello. In case you didn't get the lovely press release from Karlijn, I am now heavily involved in the Millennium Series organisation along with organising and promoting the Campaign Cup 2005.

I thought it might be nice to open up this new thread an see if there are any questions you might have that I can answer for you. Please give me a chance to answer a few at a time and I will try to keep on top of everything.

The Rules Committe is just finishing the final parts of the new Rulebook which I am hoping we will have ready for Wednesday this week. I think the major changes have already been announced in press releases. As for the gun rules I will be happy to explain them once we release them. I will post them on here as soon as they are available for release.

Thank you my friend, I would hate to spend 5 hour with you in Germany to make sure our markers are legal, as we had to in Amsterdam;)

No wonder you were all "weird" after that trip :D

- Seriously.... Scutty.... is there any hope of the Millennium Series actually permanently putting the EXL to bed?.... had we not gone by what has been reported by secondary sources, the EXL teams would for all intents and purposes still think the MS would run the EXL this year.... nobody in the MS organisation has actually ever said the EXL will NOT be run this year!

(just for the sake of good order)

Well at least some of us got it:

Millennium Series Release - 27 Feb 2005

EXL, X-BALL & MILLENNIUM '05

Valid from 28/02/05 - 31/12/05

2005 Millennium Series - EXL, X-Ball & the Millennium Series

The Millennium Series have historically been the power behind innovation & change in the world of professional paintball.

It is our intention to continue to build a professional paintball circuit in Europe that will be the envy of the world. After 18 years of involvement in tournament paintball we realise our strengths & weaknesses. We now intend to fully capitalize on our strengths and achieve ambitious but realistic goals.

One version of the sport which has many positive points for both players and spectators is X-Ball. Last year the Millennium Series invested heavily in forming the EXL and bringing X-Ball to Europe.

However, the weaknesses in this format became evident. The costs to both players and promoters were very prohibitive. This was evident in the low attendance in Open X-Ball throughout the year and the obvious strains placed on the EXL Teams.

To this end we have had to delay further involvement in X-Ball for this year and return to our original goal of professionalizing and improving the 7-man format at a more practical speed.

We hope that this is not the end of our involvement with X-Ball and will continuously consider how and when this type of paintball can be integrated into Europe.
