Uni Paint are 100% backing this idea. We would gladly provide proof to the BUCS if we can get the 20 teams up and running. We are planning on havng a minimum of 12 teams for our second event. If we can get more then it would be brilliant.

We have got our own site dedicated to University Paintball and a forum aswell. Feel free to open up a thread about BUCS on the forum.

Currently the Southampton University Paintball Club (of which I am a committee member) are working on a paintball tournament for the other sports teams in the university - something proving considerably hard work!

We are prepared to do the relevant talking with our AU president to organise stuff for our club and make BUCS things work. We're also more than happy to do some work to help out with some organisational stuff (possibly including a southern venue and other useful stuff).

A couple of things to throw in though:
- Rather than regular fixtures, how about a couple of weekend-long league events, one in winter, one in summer, perhaps? This seems to happen for a select few BUCS sports.
- Southampton, while a distance, will, after the tournament we're going to run for the other university clubs and societies, have some of the stuff to run the tournament without having to go to a site. We'd potentially be interested in hosting one event.

Dan, I'll PM with more info.

Greetings denizens of P8nt,

Firstly, not sure which category this should go under, as it's a slightly unique question.

I manage the University of Birmingham tourney team, and as you may have gleaned from gemando's thread, the team itself is rather lacking funds.

Recently, the Athletics Union (AU) has contacted a number of the sports clubs currently affiliated with the students union with a view to transferring their funding/status to the AU. This is all very good, as Paintball has been categorized as a competitive sport, putting it in line for transfer within a few years time.

However, the additional funding, if any is available, from the switch will unlikely be sufficient to keep the team from bringing in new members (most students seem far too apathetic to get involved without adequate freebies >.<).

This is where you guys come in. The BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) league is taking in a number of the more active clubs participating in the switch, thus securing them a great deal of money. In order for Tournament Paintball to be considered for entry, we would have to gather 20+ universities that would be willing to compete against each other in regular fixtures, much like the old UPL.

If anyone is part of a uni team, or knows somebody who is, and thinks they would like to get involved with this, please post your details below and we'll get the ball rolling (no pun intended) on this!

I have been asked to meet with The guy in charge here at Plymouth about this same thing as I was trying to arrange a team for the uni toury in FEB.
I hope for him to contact me soon so that I can get involved, I can't Wait.

How many of your are up in aber then? never knew of a team in that uni?? hmmmmmmm :)
Well we're more of a rec club which sporadically has a team, trying to sort out putting a proper sup air team together at the moment. Though we did use to compeate in the old inter-uni once upon a time.
