Greetings denizens of P8nt,
Firstly, not sure which category this should go under, as it's a slightly unique question.
I manage the University of Birmingham tourney team, and as you may have gleaned from gemando's thread, the team itself is rather lacking funds.
Recently, the Athletics Union (AU) has contacted a number of the sports clubs currently affiliated with the students union with a view to transferring their funding/status to the AU. This is all very good, as Paintball has been categorized as a competitive sport, putting it in line for transfer within a few years time.
However, the additional funding, if any is available, from the switch will unlikely be sufficient to keep the team from bringing in new members (most students seem far too apathetic to get involved without adequate freebies >.<).
This is where you guys come in. The BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) league is taking in a number of the more active clubs participating in the switch, thus securing them a great deal of money. In order for Tournament Paintball to be considered for entry, we would have to gather 20+ universities that would be willing to compete against each other in regular fixtures, much like the old UPL.
If anyone is part of a uni team, or knows somebody who is, and thinks they would like to get involved with this, please post your details below and we'll get the ball rolling (no pun intended) on this!
