That's bollocks. They can't claim something is illegal and seize it if it's been going on for years! They haven't even given an opportunity to hand them in volentarily, they can't bloody fine people for possessing them.
Surely there's logic in that to appeal - No warning and passed as legal under german law.

Will insurance be able to cover the costs of the tournament and the apprehended 'illegal firearms', or are players being thrown in the creek without a paddle?

I really can't see the Millennium board holding a tournament in Germany in 2010, after all the trouble with paintball there this year. If something like this happened at a MS event it would be a disaster, with 100's or maybe even 1000's of markers getting confiscated. Can you imagine, all the vendors could potentially have their stock confiscated?

As much as this sucks, from the sound of it the law has always been pretty clear in Germany - anything that can fire at over 214fps and/or ramp is illegal and always has been. Up until today everyone has ignored the law and the authorities have turned a blind eye.

Now one complete bell-end has not only cost a lot of players their markers, potentially given them all a criminal record and got them fined, but has potentially killed the chance of any future international tournaments in Germany. I can't see anyone heading to play in Germany again if there is a risk of having your marker confiscated.

Love the PBnation thread - people have already cooked up a conspiracy theory that it was GI MilSim tipping off the fuzz to get .50 cal introduced (which would be legal up to 300fps)!

Right a call to arms! Lets get our gear together and TAKE BACK THAT INDOOR PLACE! WHO'S WITH ME?

*hunts around for passport*
