How can I find a negative in an over commercialised holiday based on something that either

1) Never happened
2) Is the wrong time of year anyway
3) Was set up as some sort of scam in the first place

I wonder

Welcome back in England ....
The first stuff which shock me when I land in UK for the first time: Advertising

- More advertising than movies on tv
- stupid annoying adverts during football games (is there any marketing school in UK ? adverts don't really look like to work well)
Thib, the people who run our country have sold our soul to the devil in oh so many ways, little by little, our country is degrading.

Socially, spiritually, morally and nationally ...it's all degrading...and what have we done to stop it?

Nothing, nothing at all....the PC brigade have chopped our nuts off, not mine I hasten to add but the number of people who are willing to say what they think is worryingly small ......... the problem is, if the present situation prevails ... street violence will inevitably follow .... 'resurrect Guy Fawkes or V' is what I say !

So? It's an excuse to get together with family and friends. I'm not really fussed about getting presents, I like having time off to enjoy with my entourage. Where's the harm?

Saying you don't have the time or cant get the time off is just an excuse NOT to see the family. Theres plenty of bank holidays and other such things throughout the year.

Yes, we all see what you are saying, but stop being a dick.

Christmas rounds off the year. Everyone gets together, and has a good time with one another. You can't organise a country wide family day on a bank holiday. Or lets say you could, what yould you call it, Augustbankholidaymas?

I understand there is a huge amount of advertising, but there's a huge amount of advertising all year round. It just goes away if you don't pay any attention to it.
