Oppy: Also in todays news, 15 people had been killed in Baghdad during a bombing in a market. Their families are also sad

My comment was about the media going out of business because people are bored of seeing the same news all the time. And my comment about people being insensitive, ignorant, and under educated was not directed at this forum but at peoples mentality in general. To provide an example, I am positive that news of a new season of Friends would get more hits on the internet than news of 100 people who had been killed in Darfur. Even though I am taking it to the extreme, I hope that I come close to proving my point. To me this is a concern and it is not directed directly at this thread. Im not saying threads like this cant be created. It is the fact that threads on other topics arent, and that there is very little on the news about these very real and much more devastating/important issues that I am worried about.
I think your comments are fair, at least for the most part, but when you say 'people's mentality' I assume you are including your own.

Why moan that no-one has opened a thread on Danfur, when you could have done so, and actually been a part of educating people here on the horrors that are being committed? I think you would have found people receptive, opened their eyes, and had them talking to their friends/family/colleagues about it. That way you could feel great about yourself, and might actually make a little difference.

Christ, get over yourself. Like i said, thats EVERYDAY news - Please set up a thread for them then and we can post about how sad we are about their plight. Infact, I hit a bird on the M74 at 92 mph - Was a sad day for it too, and it's family at a guess... (after I sue them for criminal damage to my bonnet):p I'll set up a thread :D

I do include myself in those who I was targeting with that remark. But I do so only because I am very critical of my own actions. I will not devote my entire life to the cause, and only then would I be able to exclude my membership in this undesirable group. I am though doing a lot more than a large majority of the other people in this group. I have gotten the necessary education to act in this field, and I have already started work in this field as I have started work with a NGO.

I do not need to post a thread on here in order to make a difference. And lets presume that I personally did not make a difference and have made no efforts what so ever in order to do so, then it still doesnt matter as I am arguing rationally for a specific cause. It would be more advantageous for more people to have my sort of mentality and this is independent of whether I personally have done anything to help those who are suffering or not.

Dusty, Missy has actually tried to have an intelligent conversation with the point that I raised which I fully appreciate. You can do the same by providing rational arguments and not personally attacking me for my views.

I see mj as not so much a pedo. He was a child stuck in a mans body and just wanted to play with kids (not touching them but playing)he had no childhood and didn't know what money was and thats why he was in a mess. I was upset when americans sued him as he was a easy target. If they tried that in the uk they would have been told to fook off.

I would have thought he was a pedo if he wasn't so simple minded

Did you say the same of John Lennon or Lady Diana Spencer
My favorite Family Guy clip of all time is the one where Stewie threatens someone, saying:

"shut up, or I'll do to you what I did to John Lennon!!"

The flashback-clip then shows him saying. "Hi John, this is Yoko."

gets me every time..

Do it in another thread then, and don't forget your sense of humour. Already you are coming across as a wee bit too much holier than thou for my liking.

You were the one who jacked in with your views on the state of the world, in a thread where they have no relevance.
