The BNP have been criticised in the recent past for not managing to take as much advantage as the other parties from the shift of previous Labour voters. I don't think they will ever get enough people in seats to make any real difference.

Unfortunately the stuff they put on their leaflets is only put there to hide their true colours. They are trying to weasel their way in to honest, working class, British voters by claiming that they are going to address the issues that many people feel that the big 3 parties have failed to address.
This is merely a veneer to hide their true beliefs which are racist. Remember you have to be white to join the BNP.
Nick Griffin is a holocaust denying racist, his new MEP was a leading light in the NF in the 70's. I also am led to believe that the BNP get funding from far right groups in the US (KKK). For those of you that are too young to remember the National Front google it. They were a seriously unpleasant bunch.
To address the OP I don't believe that the BNP are a threat as such, however they need to be watched. And we must remember that the turn out was so low that the small, single issue parties were always going to do better than normal.
May I also add that the general rejection of their beliefs on this thread has made me proud to be on these boards.

actually even if you can, that makes them just as bad as the BNP, any political party that excludes people by race is fatally flawed and morally corrupt.

mate, sorry, a list of cultural organisations is not the same as a national political party that openly advocates forced repatriation of immigrants.
there's nothing wrong with pride in your heritage, the british have many, many things to be proud of. And there's no law against you starting your own cultural organisation in support of your heritage, you can then admit whoever you wish.
The BNP are traducing your British heritage in the name of everything that our grandfathers fought against. That's one of the things that makes me really angry about them.
