calling it a day

Paintball took over my life from 1988 to 1994 when I first packed it in, I was fed with the cost and the travel and all the politics.
I wasn't enjoying it any more and I decided it was time to have a social life away from it all.
My interest became renewed when I started checking it out over the net, and in 2006 after a chat with an old paintball mate, I came back to it.

I still think it's one hell of a sport.

Why's it called 'calling it a day?

You know when you know. Everyones circumstances are different.

for example i stopped playing to concentrate on university. I'd love to start playing again but i need to spend the money on things like food and rent. When i start making enough then i'll get back to playing.

I never lost interest in paintball, I lost interest in playing paintball.

Tournaments were more hassle than fun, too many people at events were complete f*ckheads with prima donna attitudes and zero skill, I just didn't enjoy myself anymore.

I still like the game, but don't like a lot of the people that come with it. (not the people here, obviously ;) )

I enjoy playing for sh*ts and giggles every now and then.

For the rest, you'll know when you know.

Yeah, sh*ts and giggles is where it's at.

Like Parksy, it used to be more about the crack than the game itself. Once you stop enjoying the playing or the crack, you're better off giving the game itself a miss.

I found i was enjoying paintball alot less when i started taking it seriously. loosing games would piss me off. over the off season i started playing for fun, playing every weekend and running to tourneys up and down the country, guesting for teams and just having a good laugh.

A wise canadian once said ''its all about the lols''

and it is. Play for the laughs, not for the habbit. not for winning, but for having a giggle when your getting shot out.

for the lols!

I stopped playing as I felt I couldn't justify the money spent having just bought a house and it needing a lot of time/money spending on it.

Watching the old PA footage certainly left me wanting again but despite looking round the classifieds I can't justify the cost of a set up plus training and tournies, plus Kim would chop my balls off!
Would love to hit the field again with the Twisted guys though!

started playing in 1990. Never stopped........

Played in the UK pro scene for some 8 years, then dropped back down to amateur.

just can't think of never playing again.

When we play, our team have such a crack. Maybe it's not just about the paintball anymore, maybe it's the company. Still couldn't pack it in though.....

I gave it up after getting mashed up on the field. Now after reading this thread im thinking.... is this time for a come back?

I loved the game, the team and the travel the biggest problem for me would be picking it up again.
