Also, just so you know, we are not trying to flame your idea, just mearly giving some other points of view to look at.

If is it something you want to do, then don't let random people on a computer screen tell you other wise ;)

Considering the replies i have had to this topic so far , it is fairly evident that you are intelligent people but you all seem to have mislooked one slight fact.

the definative guide to paintball "buy ballers for ballers"

The sole purpose of this topic was to get input from other players to find out what other players think and feel about the sport and the different reasons we all love running around getting bruises.

I could open up word and start right now on 300+ pages of script about what i think paintball is and what i want to see.

but i wanted to see what others want, before i spend hours writing .. call it market research.

As for not knowing my subject matter, your right, i dont know everything about paintball, hell i probably fall short of quite a few people on this forum, im 19 and have played for about 5 years. Fact is no one on this forum ( except maybe robbo,;)) knows everything (about paintball;)).

This was an attempt to make a written artical about paintball from this forum directly.

Deciding if it becomes a book, website, or even a sticky topic on it in the newbies section, is not up to me but as the forum as author im just the guy who types it up.

What i want to put in is storys, oppinions, site guides, info on playing styles, basic tips on improving your game, teamworking, gun guide, mythbusters (frozen balls anyone).

Anything from ideas on getting new blood into the sport.

And if you want a few naked ladies to get you into reading a book :eek::eek:

Then we will have to make do with clompy ... hopefully not too hairy :D

Kem, Joking aside mate, and I'm honestly trying to be serious here so you don’t waste a lot of your time, and one way of ensuring you are gonna be put on the right road is by making sure I don’t sugar-coat any comments I may make.
Everything I will now suggest is well meant and will help you if you take notice of it ....if in fact you are serious about this project.

Your first post was a bit ambiguous because it could have been read (as it was by most) as asking players what they would like to see in the book as against those same players contributing ..... that might explain what you described as us having 'mislooked' ........mislooked????

OK, I'll let that one go but..and here's my second point, for somebody who's thinking about compiling contributions for a book, it might serve you well to do a crash course in elementary English.

People tend to judge others by what’s put in front of them and whether it’s letters to potential publishers or media people, you need to present yourself professionally and ...... well, your spelling is not just appalling, it's ....well, it's unbelievable and best (worst) exampled by this following jewel in the crown,

the definative guide to paintball "buy ballers for ballers"

I'll ignore the 'definative' mistake coz a few people fall foul of that one but bejeeepers Kem .....'BUY'???? .... 'BUY'????? .....now that ain't no typo mate, that's a ....oh I just can't ........
If you write any letters to people in the media / publishing business with a view to them taking your work, they will just laugh in your face with spelling like that.
Your letter will be in their trash bucket before you can blink.

But the bit that made me chuckle is when you state quite authoritatively,

'I could open up word and start right now on 300+ pages of script about what i think paintball is and what i want to see'

You couldn’t do it mate, not 300 pages, there’s just no way unless you are gonna indulge yourself in 290 pages of paintball gibberish.

And Kem, if you are using Word then you really need to delve a little deeper into this application and discover the delights of Spellcheck, it makes life sooo much easier for your readers, and of course for yourself when you go back over your work to check it ....or not, as the case may be :)

You are embarking upon an ambitious task, and the first thing you need is a sense of direction, closely followed by a sense of perspective, you have the former but I think maybe you need to work on your perspective a little.
Apart from that, good luck !
:)

it most certainly could, if there was demand for it. The newer versions of the software are better than the ones I used back then , so it makes it a bit easier for people to register contribute and reduces spam and other abuse.
Relaunch it, if memebrs are made more aware of it Im sure they would contribute.

It would certainly save answering the same questions over and over again.
Plus if its editable by any memeber then Im sure it will be up to date, there are that many kit/gun whores on here it should be right up to date with new releases.

If it's a book for ballers, it'd best have lots of pictures and very few big words. A hungry caterpillar or two would probably be a good idea too.
