Would people buy a book if they can get most of the info for free, including 'how to' videos from the internet? So a website or webbook might be a better option, and cheaper.

Remember, the amount of printed paintball media has dropped hugely so a book might not exactly sell.

Edit....
I tried to make a paintball wiki before, but that died a horrible death ( www.paintballerwiki.com was the site ) . The concept of a wiki is good, where every one can edit it, but its a lot of work.

Instead, just have a whole forum for a noobies FAQ that seems to work. It has cut down noob questions a great deal http://www.paintballer.ie/viewforum.php?f=107

Although it could be interesting if every member of the forum wrote a page about what they think their place on the forums is, shove it all in a book and call it "The Chronicles of P8ntballer, the Members the Mods and the Ban Hammer"

Well, yours is 'Kings of the angry nerds' of course :D

somone like hhhhhhmmmm, i wonder who robbo is thinking of ....:D
Actually Matt, I genuinely wasn't thinking of anybody in particular but I'm really flattered you were thinking of me :)

I was just describing what I thought to be the required credentials to write a book..and to be fair mate, those credentials would be appropriate for any book covering a particular sport.

PS: I have been asked twice to do it but declined both times ....fyi :)

why may i ask ?
Hmmmmm, I think basically because if I did it, I would wanna do it right and I don't think I could have made the necessary commitment.
If somebody wanted to commission me to do it, then I might think again but it would mean they would have to come in real heavy with the wallet, coz my hourly rate ain't cheap :)

Considering the replies i have had to this topic so far , it is fairly evident that you are intelligent people but you all seem to have mislooked one slight fact.

the definative guide to paintball "buy ballers for ballers"

The sole purpose of this topic was to get input from other players to find out what other players think and feel about the sport and the different reasons we all love running around getting bruises.

I could open up word and start right now on 300+ pages of script about what i think paintball is and what i want to see.

but i wanted to see what others want, before i spend hours writing .. call it market research.

As for not knowing my subject matter, your right, i dont know everything about paintball, hell i probably fall short of quite a few people on this forum, im 19 and have played for about 5 years. Fact is no one on this forum ( except maybe robbo,;)) knows everything (about paintball;)).

This was an attempt to make a written artical about paintball from this forum directly.

Deciding if it becomes a book, website, or even a sticky topic on it in the newbies section, is not up to me but as the forum as author im just the guy who types it up.

What i want to put in is storys, oppinions, site guides, info on playing styles, basic tips on improving your game, teamworking, gun guide, mythbusters (frozen balls anyone).

Anything from ideas on getting new blood into the sport.

And if you want a few naked ladies to get you into reading a book :eek::eek:

Then we will have to make do with clompy ... hopefully not too hairy :D

Like I said, I tried the approach of 'every one contributing' via a wiki on p8ntberller here a while ago:

Link: http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=83568&highlight=wiki

Anyone could register and add parts, but it just didn't work. Trying to get people to add bits was hard work. Now maybe it was just the way I went about it and didnt to the right things to get people involved, but the majority of people are very lazy :)
