Skeet / Gary, I ain't gonna start rebutting each and every time somebody wants to argue a point, I am in NO way disrespecting or disregarding what you say but you are gonna just have to trust me on this one mate.
I'm not gonna be as blunt as to say ' you are wrong' but I will try and wrap it up a little better and say, 'you are not right' .....:)...sorry mate !

The reason I ain't gonna answer is because I will get bogged down in rebutting every single point with every single poster who believes my initial rebuttal of their post needs further arguing.

During a lot of these threads I put up, there will be times people are convinced they are right and will argue till they are blue in the teeth, a bit like the 'flat earth society' guys if you get what I mean?

A lot of people will harp on about 'the most important thing in paintball is communication', blah blah .... it certainly sounds as though it could be right but in reality, it's just a factor and not the major one.

I know you may not like what you are reading now mate, but sometimes, learning ain't all about sucking information in, it's sometimes about sucking it up, and realizing you may have been 'not right' and embracing a new idea....

Surely "Teamwork" is simply the function of persons working together. It can neither be taught nor is it a skill.

Teams can perform well or badly, put the reason for this is not "Teamwork" (and as such the concept of Teamwork always need to be qualified), but could be due to any number of other properties:

- Player 1, is fat and too slow to reach the snake
- Player 1 wiped and got 2 others eliminated
- Player 2, is a sh*t shot
- Player 3 can't load for toffee
- Player 4 is mute, blind and deaf
etc etc

Good Teamwork (if you like), is the incorrect label applied to a whole number of smaller sub-tasks performed well or correctly. These sub tasks, however can be taught.

Many of the first functions people often confuse with teamwork are actually the least important functions for each individual team member or component.

Communication can largely be negated by sufficient planning, individual situational awareness and overall skill. If you team is significantly more skillful than your opponents, communication would rarely be required between players as each individual task can be completed in isolation. Sure communication may well be required between players, but the execution of this is down to strategy and trained comms skills (preset calls, when / if actions etc), not teamwork.

When one of the the team members or units fails to perform his task or job, the team will perform badly regardless of the game result. The only way to get good "Teamwork" is too ensure that each player performs his function successfully, and the best way to do this is to ensure genuine skills are taught / trained.

Blimey Glen, I'm really impressed, genuinely so mate; you've approached this particular subject in the same vein as a logician; for the most part, that is smack on.

I thank-you, sir. However, since the pubs are now open normal service will be resumed.

Wasn't a rebuttal at all...I would never attempt to suggest that I could be right, over you when it comes to paintball, or Maths, or probably several subjects!

No, no. I was simply trying to expand more/less clearly what I had been getting at as an alternative to my initial Dynasty/RL post (which I think is more my way of thinking).

And do be honest, the general idea of what I was getting at, is not far off what Stongle wrote...not trying to steal his moment of sober thunder in any way:D

So, I'm just gonna shut up now and see what actually pans out, knowing in my mind, that I am pretty sure as to what you are getting at, but clearly failing to put it into words.:D

Frikkkin eck, now I feel bad !!!!
Coz it ain't you that's bad at articulating what you meant, it's me, coz there is no fcakin way it was to come across as you obviously took it, and for that I duly apologise mate.

I did re-read what I wrote in the light of your reply and I can see where I went wrong, I got the essence across but didn't get packaging right.

There is no way I wanted that to be your last post but I can see how you might think I was implying that. I actually meant, i didn't wanna go down the road where we ended up discussing each other's rebuttal.
And don't put yerself down here Gary, you been around for long enough in this game to have a valid view of how this game's played, you can rebut me any time you like ... the problem we might have is, we could end spiraling off somewhere and I didn't want that to happen in this thread.

The format generally is, have a couple of guesses at whatever questions been thrown up, if they don't hit the mark, then have some more.
As for Glen getting close?
Somebody has to win the lottery eventually, it's a 14 million to one shot but hey, glen's just got lucky so on that basis, you will probably win the lottery tonight ...if you got a ticket. that is.

I hope I've explained myself a little better than my last post to you.

Dude, don't fret. I haven't taken anything...erm...badly..you would know if I had, because I would say so...:D

And, I am just going to see what pans out and interject at some point where I feel I can. I think I am trying to offer thoughts to the question, without knowing quite what form the answer should take, as yet.

I shall be watching...

I think teamwork comes when each team member is working towards the same goals, get on and have mutual respect for each other.

I have played on teams where I disliked some of my team mates more than the opposing team, ... and didn't care if we won or lost, as long as I lasted longer / shot more people than the guy I was pissed with. There was not much teamwork going on then !

But I have also played on teams where I 'loved' the other guys; and felt prouder to be able to support and assist a team mate in pulling off a move than trying to make the move myself. The moment your heart swells, and you know that if we were 'hunting a mamoth' or really at war, you would gladly sacrifice yourself for the guys around you. That is when 'teamwork' really happens on the field.

That kinda thing cannot be trained. It is all about atmosphere, and I suppose the combination of characters you have on the team.
