Hi Robbo,

As with any advice I have given freely, It is followed entirely at your own risk and I am not liable for any resulting damage to property or health.
There's always a kicker ain't there .... :)

p.s. what area in london do you live, or do you still live up north ? If you live near me I could maybe come and laugh, sorry I mean give you a hand !!!!
As far as I know, I have never lived 'ooop norf' but I do live in and around SE London / Kent borders.
And thanks for the advice and offer of help, much appreciated seeing as I just been quoted 400 quid by some upholstery guy to help me out.

When he quoted me that price I did inform him I wanted an existing suite slightly dismantled and put back together again rather than commissioning him to build an entire house ... he didn't seem to appreciate my particular brand of humour...
If I get stuck (which is undoubtedly a likely outcome here bearing in mind my DIY skills), I might give you a bell if you PM me your mobile number ... cheers Andy.

Now that's not a bad idea Pete, As a collective we can usually get most things sorted on this forum, so if you just throw an open invite, we can all come to your place and "advise" you just how it needs to be done:eek::D

Oh great idea Lucky, I'll let the wife know we got guests coming over this weekend and she can get the tea and fairy cakes ready ....... she'll love that I'm sure.
Mind you, if it got the damn sofa thru that door she couldn't then launch any nag-pie in my direction ..... hmmmm, lemme think about this carefully ....

What you need to do Pete is set up a pay for view web cam for the re delivery of the sofa, so that people can watch you fit it into your house, the money raised will then be more than enough for new sofa/house repairs/legal wranglings

I spoke with a TV producer Mr Robbo, and he's interested in the footage but can't decide if he should make it into a one-shot for Discovery the most brutal & efficient dismemberment techniques of the Ikea crew, or maybe an instruction on how to make anything into a million pieces without the use of tools.

OK, the sofa day has come and gone and here's the result, the NEW delivery guys turned up and I told them of the problems we had last week and I also told him we were gonna get a guy to dismantle the offending until and do a rebuild.
I just happened to mention to these guys in a jokey way, if they did manage to get the thing in, I'd 'give them a good drink' ..... I then asked him if they wanted a cuppa and went off to make it for them.
5 minutes later on returning to the front room ...... yeah, you guessed, the sofa was sitting in the front room ..... And as for how they did it?
I got no frikkin idea and unless they had that Willy Wonka reducing machine I just wouldn't have believed they could have done it ... I duly gave them 50 quid and set about reminding the wife, "I told you so, I had always said it would go in", she duly kicked me in the shin :(
I like happy endings :)
