The point he was making Chris, wasn't how it affected the mechanics of him going or not, he was suggesting (and quite rightfully so) that any responsible company being that unprepared for the following year's schedule and consequent inability to tell its customer base the correct dates/locations, seems incompetent and somewhat uncaring.

Not everybody in paintball has such a fluid calendar as yours, some parties, ya know, customers, players or whatever, have to plan their days off for work and holidays and a well prepared schedule is extremely important for them.

The difference between England and Germany is gonna be one or two days for the UK player and they need to know these things well in advance..end of!

I´d actually for the first time in a while sort of stand up for the Millennium Series on this one - yeah it sucks not knowing 5 months in advance where the event is, BUT I wont be that much worried untill we get like 3 months away anyway.... Maybe 4 ! ;)

But okay - my point with this is, that unlike most other sports we do not have big great venues specifically made or build for this sport just "hanging on the trees", so I get that it is of course harder finding a good AND available venue for paintball when we are talking a tourney this big.

Yeah I know this might seem doublestandard coming from me hehe, BUT I get the fact that it´s harder sorting out when it´s for paintball - had we talked football theeeeen it would´ve been a different matter, they have stadiums hanging on the trees you know !;)

Then again let´s see when they do make them official if it has been worth the wait muahaha !

Having been involved in organising paintball and other large events, you'll find that organising a venue suitable for a large event becomes infinitely more easy if you do it well in advance. Waiting for the last minute, as paintball does, makes it a whole lot harder...
Well in all fairness I tend to believe they are organising it as we speak, and are not waiting "for the last minute" - think Belgium if anything taught them that!

why dont you worry about Malaga first, believe it or not 5 months is respectively in the paintball world a long time, do not generalize your business to paintball
I think Jay (Buddha3) has every right to draw comparisons with mainstream business because it then gives the Millennium guys, and its paying customer base, a much needed yardstick on which to be assessed.

If paintball is continually ran in the insular way it is, with little or no regard to general customs and practices, people can lose sight of what's reasonably expected and therefore not able to bring organisations like the Millennium to account.
What you suggest plays straight into the lap of anybody who wishes to get away with what they want; I'm not suggesting the Millennium want to play it that way but there's no harm in the paying customer taking out an insurance against it...and what better way than to parallel general business practice?

I'd like to see all of you try and book a venue for a paintball event before you complain about the timeline.

You can't compare paintball to other businesses because paintball is fundamentally different from any other event the venue you are interested has ever hosted before, and working that out takes more time.

Frikkin' hell Chris, get back to bed mate .... I bet it's nice and cold in downtown Chi town :)

I'll call you later today, if of course you still got old cellfone number (---2035), if not, PM me new one.

PS Whilst it may be relatively difficult to book a paintball site, it ain't 5 that difficult and certainly difficult enough to give a green light to any delay...sometime, somewhere, people have to be accountable for services they provide to paying customers, and what better way to assess standards than to take a look around....

Been there and done that.
And found it to be a lot less difficult than booking a venue for 5.000 people that want to party, half of whom will be high on XTC, while the other half will be either drunk, high on weed, or both. Many of whom will start fights.
But hey, guess what, I already have that venue booked for next year and the year after as well...
Paintball is NOT fundamentally different from other businesses.

Chris, you have no idea what experience I bring to the table. Paintball is, unfortunately full of unprofessionalism. I know you hate to hear it, but take off your blinds man. Personally I think that you are one of the people that does have a professional approach (from what I can tell), but that doesn't mean everybody around you is the same way.

Strictly out of curiosity which venue did you book and for what kind/size of tournament ? :)
