Halleluiah!

Does this point to unified pricing structures and roster/division locking rules too, I wonder
Pricing structures won't be discussed at this point and I'm not sure there can ever be any standardising in this area for obvious reasons.

As for locked divisions?
I think this is something that needs discussing but I doubt it will be top of the agenda in Vegas.
Vegas is gonna be concerned with more general, broader subjects of integration and standardising.

My own opinion on locked leagues is, they have to go, especially over here in Europe where we are gonna be struggling if we don't open them up to the Yank pros.
The only way we are gonna revitalise and sustain the Millennium league is by reintroducing the opportunity for all teams to go up against the best pros and the only way we are gonna do that is by having these events open.

It would appear that some Millennium teams are struggling with the costs and the requirement to pay a seasons fees up-front for the locked leagues. Leading them to put their spots for up for sale with any buyers not only having to pay the entry fees but also the spot price and the transfer/name change fees. Making it considerably more expensive for the new team than the outgoing one. Another vicious circle IMHO!

Robbo, talk to YB, make sure he makes his top priority the removal of ulrich ;) All deals are off until he's gone :)
He would be first on my agenda ......hmmmmnn, maybe unlocking the leagues would be first come to think of it but the removal of ulrich von klinkerhoffen would be a definite second.

And I don't think our little ulrich has endeared himself to Dave YB in the past with what can only be described as a spectacular display of characteristic rudeness and inappropriate tone ... I shall say no more .....

Nature will eventually run its course on this one I'm sure ....

I'm not even sure the PSP should take on the MS talks right now.

In my opinion they have a lot on their plate and a huge responsibility to US ball as the only remaining National league. They will have more teams, more vendors, will need more refs and may have to change some venues to facilitate increased attendance. They will have to completely re-jig the NXL to keep the pro-teams accomodated. In short, the PSP have to do a hell of a lot of work, with only 4 full-time staff.
So I expect the talks will go ahead anyway, but for me '09 should be a year of consolidation for the PSP in the US, before any attention is turned to grasping the European nettle.

Someone needs to start a thread naming the 16 NXL teams for '09 - and yes, I believe there will only be 16 teams total, due to scheduling.

Basically, there are currently 20 Pro teams, 21 Pro teams if you include Vicious (but don't grant any other teams promoted in '08, and don't allow any sister-teams). My guess is that 5 of them won't be Pro next year. I'll let the rest of you guess which ones.

Philly
Ironmen
Aftershock
Infamous
Dynasty
Impact
Joy
Damage
Xfactor
Avalanche
Dogs
Hurricanes
Arsenal
Jersey Authority (use Boston players in NPPL)
Boston Red Legion
Blast
XSV
Aftermath
Rage
Vicious
OC Bushwackers

Missy Q based on the list you just put do you really think some of those teams would even stand a chance i.e. dogs, hurricanes, arsenal, jersey and rage

rage and the dogs got religated in 7 man do you really think they could handel the pace change for xball as well as raise the extra money to compeat in the nxl

I have to disagree Missy. The PSP and the Millennium are now the only two organisations left around the table. The timing for their meeting in Vegas couldn't be better in terms of the opportunity they have to finally unify tournament paintball. Why let this opportunity pass?

The Millennium and PSP surely have a lot on their plates right now, but natural selection has left them with the responsibility of creating a unified structure to tournament paintball that bridges the pond and leads the world from here on in.

I for one are looking to them to step up to the challenge and hope that the natural selection of only the fittest survives means that they are up to the job. I imagine I am not the only one with high hopes.

Unification is well overdue and the time is right now.

Dogs are already in the NXL, and are unlikely to be kicked-out to 'make way'.
Rage, 'Canes, Arsenal and Bushwackers are teams that have always opted for 7 man, and are 4 of the teams that should be the most concerned, together with Avalanche, who burned the NXL by pulling out mid-season.
Authority may have no players to field, and could also be among the first of the casualties, but they also have strong backing through a determined owner.
Aftershock are the weakest NXL team, but I doubt they will be going anywhere.
Joy didn't play either league in '08, and if they get in there will be a lot of noise, but I think the NXL want them in anyway due to their calibre.
Blast are in the same boat as Avalanche, having to rely on the favor of a league they deserted from.

One thing I do not think will happen is that we will see existing NXL teams bumped out. Its more a case of which NPPL teams will get in........unless an NXL team is forced to pull out of the NXL due to lack of support/funding.
