Missy, I have just read your post from 3.27pm today and I agree with you 100%!

I am trying to get an event along those lines off the ground, with the assistance of Planet Eclipse and WDP.

Bring back one off events

Should go back to being one off events! Run by one event organiser for each leg. Only one person reaping big rewards from each legs and not 5 or 6 people getting huge rewards from 5 legs.

There is a better chance of getting more teams there including seeing the return of the US Teams which can only be good for European ball.

The biggest reason and reward for most lower division teams to go and play the Milleniums was to play a "pro team", now that has gone and they are only playing teams they could play at home what is the point of going? For the "Pros" it probably was a waste of time but these were your customers.

In football the competition with the most magic is the FA Cup, because the minows play the big fish. Bring back those days to paintball before it all dies.

I agree with Mr Salm - bring back the US teams and mixed divisions, so we can have pro vs. am again!

:)

Jon ... from the Millennium's perspective, if they do away with locked divisions, they do away with a significant income stream.

They can wrap the reasons up as to why they keep locked divisions in whatever package they want but the harsh reality is, it's a big, big money earner for them.

It makes sense to go back to open divisions purely on a numbers basis because by definition there are more Am and novice teams wanting to play pros than pros not wanting to.

Unfortunately the pressure points are loaded against this idea not least because the pro teams tend to be industry backed but I think the landscape is changing because the industry is being forced to look at the bigger picture.
The industry guys don't like the 'charges' levied against them with name changes and ownership changes etc .... they'll come round I think.
