No point trying to have a debate if that point confuses you.If you think your helping, you go for it mate.:D
What point is confusing me

This guy is asking a question, a asked myself when starting in paintball,

Why pay the prices site charge when i can get it a lot cheaper from else where.

The answer is simple 'That is where the profit is for the site' and if they allowed everyone to bring their own paint they would not be in business full stop ;)

is that a little bit clearer :)

Unfortunately,
Sites need to make money and they cannot survive on sunshine and love as we all first thought.

Luke1471,
How do you think your local sites pays for all the equipment? It is through paint sales and hire fees for the equipment. So support your local site and buy the field paint. Then go and play rec-ball events if you want cheaper paint by higher costs of buying your own kit.

Good luck.

I'm in the process of opening up my own site, and having a game fee and letting everyone bring their own paint isn't financially viable. have a think about how much it costs to setup a site and rent/buy the land etc, and that's before things like insurance, wages, maintenance, VAT, tax..... I could go on, but you get the picture.

Support your local site so you have somewhere to play.

Surely a sites main income comes from punter days, stag parties etc. where they might have 30 people paying £75 each for the day (once they include extra paint and so on). Thats over £2000 for the day.

Compared to a walk-on where that same 30 people (with their own kit) might pay as little as £15 each and bring their own kit and paint, totalling around £450, and we can see what keeps a site in operation.

The bottom line is, if you want cheap paintball, you have to bite the bullet and buy your own kit. If you don't want to do that, then accept that sites charge £6 or more for 100 paint.

Trying to cheat the sites that provide for our hobby is only going to end up damaging paintball in the long run as sites close and we are left with nowhere to go.

luke1471 listen to what people are saying chap i have worked in this industry for nearly 20 years now and paint is cheaper now than when i started playing buying cheap paint from ebay or other such sources is really dodgy as i have seen some of this bargain paint and some of it is egg shaped or warped oversized which means it might not fire through the barrel and most of the time it is very bad quality so please take some advice from a old man DON'T BUY IT you will lose out in the end most sites only use one type off paint shell and fill so you will be found out so go to your local site and check the prices as most sites reduce prices for bulk buys so just ask and enjoy the sport and i hope you enjoy the sport as much as i do

Fixed. and seconded. Mozza speaks the truth.

Many rental sites would kick you off and/or ban you for smuggling cheap paint in. Rental players don't tend to shoot very much (compared to walk-ons) so sites charge more, otherwise they won't make enough profit to stay in business. Walk-on & BYO prices are cheaper because they shoot more, and sites charge a green fee.

There's an insurance/safety issue as well. Some paints got a bad reputation for bullet hard shells or fills that stained. Cal/mag pink used to stain kit, trees & bunkers and take months to fade. Zap white also used to stain really badly, and a lot of W/O sites stopped you from shooting it.

Sites invest a lot of money in kit & keeping customers happy. If you cheat to save a few £££ and other players find out, they'll probably complain & drop you in the s***. If you want to play regularly on the cheap, buy some kit and go to walk-ons.
