Part of the problem is that the game sucks. We'd solve a lot of the issues with televising paintball if we made everybody shoot Pump. Movement televises well. Shooting does not.
The other problem is the combination of TALENT and BUDGET. We have not yet managed to combine good talent with a good budget.
The first NXL show had a huge budget and no talent.
The NPPL ESPN show had a huge budget and no talent.
The NPPL Fox show had a big budget and no talent.
The WPL show had a big budget and negative talent.
The NCPA shows have had good talent, but no budget.
Patrick's Cup coverage had good talent, but no budget.
The problem there is every time someone with some money comes along, they feel like they have to spend it on "experienced production companies" - and not experienced in paintball. So we get a very slick-looking, crappily shot product.
I can only dream what Patrick or my production guys could do with a million dollar production budget. (First thing I'd do is hire Patrick. )
