Part of the problem is that the game sucks. We'd solve a lot of the issues with televising paintball if we made everybody shoot Pump. Movement televises well. Shooting does not.

The other problem is the combination of TALENT and BUDGET. We have not yet managed to combine good talent with a good budget.

The first NXL show had a huge budget and no talent.
The NPPL ESPN show had a huge budget and no talent.
The NPPL Fox show had a big budget and no talent.
The WPL show had a big budget and negative talent.
The NCPA shows have had good talent, but no budget.
Patrick's Cup coverage had good talent, but no budget.

The problem there is every time someone with some money comes along, they feel like they have to spend it on "experienced production companies" - and not experienced in paintball. So we get a very slick-looking, crappily shot product.

I can only dream what Patrick or my production guys could do with a million dollar production budget. (First thing I'd do is hire Patrick. ;))

I have used the blackeye cam to great effect and (the one I use does not restrict view)
and with the right people with the right equipment I am still convinced that it can be done, but there won't be enough viewers to make it pay. So it will be for the love of paintball , webcasts and the sale of a few dvd's that for now will be the future of paintballing broadcasts.

Gambo, please listen to what's being said here mate, I was involved with the very first attempt in the US to put paintball on TV and have overseen or been involved with every other .......some of the people commenting in this thread are also some of the most experienced and intelligent people you are gonna come across in paintball mate (from both sides of the atlantic) and if they all have the same opinion re paintball and TV, and you differ from that opinion, then try to work out why you are different.

Yeah, Dave 'The oracle' Elliott was always known for his unique and sometimes profound insights into the philosophical impact of our game.

Tell him I said 'Hi' :)
