And uh - that comment about IPPU - well at least the 5 of us tried doing something about it, what the heck did all of you do ? Support it - errrrrhm no wait a second how did that go again ?
ok that was bit of a cheap blow lol. apologies for that. the point was though, not everything works out how you expect it to

pointing fingers at the bulldogs is understandable. yes we did duck out but not without trying. we rang to see if we could have 1 single player changed, so we could field a team. players who werent even going payed for others so we could make it. i know another team (think it was hurricanes? couldve been cynergy) was prepared to play with 4 players just so they could fufill the contract terms. both times both teams were turned down.

the post just seemed a bit aggresive, thats why straight away you had people standing up and saying "well hold on just a minute...." we band together because no-one likes to be see anyone accused.

i see your point. yes it was not what was expected. however its all down to the millenium. you can say what you want but unless you tell them nowt happen!

its lucky the world of paintball has freddie brockadwarf as its paladin, its good of you to stand up for bad element without any personal gain, and as i remember it one of the teams mentioned attended the event but were told they can not start a match with less than 5 players so technically they didnt miss any events they just didn’t play

Also, if you think about it, there isnt a mainstream sport going that wouldnt fine a player/team for doing this. Whether its points or money.

But these things should be in the rules before the season starts I would have thought.
when was the last time any on actually saw this rule book have they actually releases it in the last couple of years

By the way - it just hit me - the thing about Millennium denying a team fielding only 4 players in Toulouse SURELY is a hoax or simply a bad excuse from the team in question..... To my knowledge Allstars in SPL played the same event with only 4 players without any problems !

1 - So - the teams honestly blame millennium for them not being able to show up to the contracted events due to an "overly zealous" roster lock as someone put it... Which uh by the way had been official since before the season ? :D

2 - How come then only 3 teams out of 83 did not pull through if in fact the roster lock rules were messed up ?

3 - You guys to me are the funniest part in this thread so far ! Try understanding that I am NOT talking out of an egoistic point of view - quite the contrary !

4 - Fine enough that some of you stick together, or stick up to your buddies or whatever - but honestly try and see the bigger picture here, and try and learn the fact that NO rules have been changed during the season - we all agreed to play 5 events and we all agreed to the roster lock, we all knew about it in advance !

5 - Yes some teams have probably struggled with this roster lock BUT 32 out of 35 teams in div. 1 actually managed to pull through - so why should there be "softer" rules for those few teams NOT fulfilling the terms they agreed on and signed before season kicked off ?

6 - BUT not showing up to events you already agreed to - that is purely the teams own fault, then they should have planned in advance OR realised they could not live up to the terms beforehand.
Broken your reply up into numbered points, and ignored the IPPU thing.

1 - Circumstances change, players drop out of teams. In that situation reostering new players becomes impossible.

2 - Because only 3 teams were affected. Its a small percentage but a fact nonetheless. Luckily it was just 3 it seems...

3 - I dont think anyone has accused you of that, so in a sense that goes to show you ARE indeed egotistical / self righteous and self important. Your threads usually smack of it anyway...

4 - Yes yes wonderful thing hindsight. If they knew they would be crioppled by the rules they at first thought were fair and agreed to, Im sure they would have thought differently. I dont think any team in their right mind would sign up knowing they werent going to finish the season. to suggest otherwise it at best illogical and at worst retarded. Im not sticking up for any friends when I say this, either.

5 - Like you said no rules changed during the season, so you should be happy. Any debate over new rules will be just that, a debate now in the off season in light of the unfortunate 2008 circumstances.

6 - Yeah it is the teams fault, however, life is such that at times circumstances can occur that are out of your full control, and as such out of the control of the owner of the team / captain. People need to leave teams. Peoples financial situaiton change. need I go on? Its life, and its a rollercoaster (baby).

With the best will in the world you are writing as if the team managers had a crystal ball and could divine the future to then guarantee and sign in blood perhaps to turn up for all 5 events, just so its fair for everyone.

Im sure people would love to do that, but sadly, life aint perfect.

If the MS think in hindsight those team ****ed up enough to relegate them, then its up to them to do.

The rules as youve said are set from the start of the season however, and nowhere does it say noshowers should be relegated.

take it up with the board and stop slating the teams who indeed I have no affiliation with but can say with high certainty they entered the season with the best of intentions.
