I got some good news and some bad news ......what do you want first?
OK, I guess it's gonna be bad news first and so here goes:-
When this meeting was first suggested, quite a few names were thrown into the hat, some of whom had some experience with tournament promotion and some not.
Within a few days of these names being posted up, which you must remember was only really a rough idea of who should be involved anyway, I had received several messages from people advising me not to include some of the people mentioned in that suggested list.
And some of those messages originated from within that named pack .....
It kinda summed it all up for me really because it is exactly this type of BS we just don't need when trying to sort this cr@p out.
I let some of the people know what I felt and basically told them not to worry about anybody else and focus upon what they as individuals can do to help put Britball back on its feet again.
Listening to he/she did this, he/she did that, gets kinda tiresome after a while and I was so close to thinking 'bollocks to all this, why should I even bother'?
Moving on to the good news..... I had a few quick meetings with people in Paris and what seems to have surfaced is the idea we have a more serious meeting over here in the UK whereby we can organise ourselves better and hopefully pull on a few more people to help out.
I had to leave early Saturday morning to get to Nicky T's wedding and so it didn't really leave that much time for us all to get together.
And so, I double checked with Ledz over the weekend at the wedding and he wants to come along to help out; Phil Webb from Smart Parts came up to me in Paris and also expressed an interest to attend.
One of the surprises with all this was Billy Ceranski; for those of you who don't know, he is the top operational / sales guy at Kee Action Sports outa Chicago, he is a good friend and old teammate of mine from our Aftershock days and he often comes over to the UK to have meetings with the Kee people at their Colchester offices.
He wants to see if he can help too ....
And the more I thought about it all, the more I began to realise that we need input from these guys because if they (industry) can help support this initiative in some way, then it means we can maybe hit the ground running ..well that's the theory anyway.
I think if we can extend the invitation to people like Ellcie from Dye and Piper from Kingman (I can ask these two to see if they wish to come along) then I think we can give ourselves the best possible chance.
We will see how it evolves .....
