Have you extended a hand to Ged and Matt at Angel? you know ther're organisation is good... nppl etc...
Well......go back a few years and the first person I would want involved would be Ged and I think he woulda been first in the queue to help anyways .. .. ...without even asking.
The only reason I ain't gonna ask Ged is because I know he has other things to focus on at the moment and I wouldn't want to distract him from those.

That man has already done so much for the UK, and I for one, am hugely grateful for all the work he's done for us.
He put the UK on the world paintball map with his Hyperball events and the Angel, and has supported many UK based endeavours already...to his cost.
That man has earned his stripes and then some .... I could never, and would never go asking for any more.

on the topic of robbo not wanting out of it, i think there should be a statue devoted to robbo, life size one, to scare the crap out of all new paintballers.........................
Of course I want something out of it, my name's Pete not Charlie Charity :)
I wanna hold up my head up again when people talk of UK paintball, that's what I want.

Next year, Shockwave have to allegedly hand back their pro spot to Ton Tons leaving us with one pro team, Nexus.
One fackin pro team !!!!!!!!!
We had 20 or so not that long ago ...... WTF happened?

Our pro team status is but a symptom of a much broader problem and that is what I hope we can put right.
Pro teams are an emergent property of the tournament scene and so having only one pro team means our tournament scene sucks..no arguments !!

We put the foundation train back on track and all else falls into place and d'ya know how I know that?
Coz that's exactly what happened before !!

It doesn't take any real design or even maintenance, it just takes a sewing of the seeds and pro teams grow out of that ...

And if you have pro teams flourishing, then it necessarily means, everything in between, from rec to tourney is equally healthy.
That's how paintball grows ...we know this, we have witnessed this, it's not conjecture.

As for scaring new ballers off?
Hmmm, I don't think so, I want as many new ballers as possible to join our ranks..as for a statue?
I got a better idea, how about we get Keeley Watson to be modelled in stone?
Now, that would pull people in :)

bring back the pro tour is what i say.

yes they may not be the standard of cpl millenium pro but by bashing heads at least once a month surely we can work something out of that?!?

the alternative is the old "everyone meet once a month" but with that theres no drive, i mean if they want on the day they can go "nah cant be arsed" at least with a tourny there is something to work for, a win. domestic yes, a start? also yes

Nice work Pete.

I think what you said as well about keeping it to the people who actully matter coming to this meeting then i think we cant go wrong.

Letting any tom dick and harry in who will only have an agenda about what they are going to get out of it is what is going to spoil it.

and i think that every one knows, that you wont let that happen.

Good job.

Seconded. Will be interesting to read the 'minutes' (if that's the right terminology) if any were to be taken.

I can see you have thought long and hard regarding this devilishly cunning plan .... apart from one very slight, almost insignifcant glitch ........we've only got one pro team next year :)

when the pro tour was on before it wasn't conventional pro teams though was it? i mean kellys were in it before they even hit cpl. surely the spl teams could compete and perhaps the div 1 millenium teams?

anyone thats moving from the point :)

Cookie, this is the problem mate, the old model of pro team focus has to be discarded and a new strategy has to be developed.
All of the big companies that are still in the game have realised they need to look after their core market and one of the reasons why the US paintball scene is in so much trouble is because the big companies took their eye off the (paint)ball.

They lost sight of their core market which was, and always will be, the rec scene. This is 95% of the paintball market and it is this area of our sport that pays for the pro scene ...let's never forget that.

With that in mind, the focus must be shifted away from pro-orientated tournaments towards a much wider demographic, and it's a demographic that necessarily has to involve the rec scene, the scenario scene and finally (note the word finally) the tournament scene.

And the reason is this, we need to provide a coherent framework in which to create new blood, which by the way is always gonna be a derivative of the rec scene, and then create a tournament circuit that doesn't put newcomers off, which it has so successfully done in the past.
And so this process necessarily has to create what I'd like to call (for want of a better word) 'parachute' events and / or leagues.
These will provide a soft landing environment for all newcomers to our sport and won't have them running away for fear of getting a thousand balls rammed in their face from some snotty kid screaming obscenities at him/her.

We need to learn from our mistakes here and unless the emphasis changes this time around, we will repeat the mistakes of old and I ain't going down that road.

Luckily for us, the industry has already fundamentally changed its operational practices and emphases...and rightly so, and this industry shift in emphasis will serve us well because it will dovetail into what we wanna do and we they wanna go ...and so 'what does this mean' you might ask?

Well, it means they are more likely to help us financially because, what we will be working on, will not come on a wing and a prayer ... we will need brains/experience to create, brains/ experience to develop and money/commitment to sustain.

This ain't differential mathematics guy, it's pretty much commonsense coupled with experience .... we shall see if people are true to their word and put the state of UK paintball before the state of what's in their pocket ......I am somewhat closer to optimism ..... but not there yet :)

Don't confuse me with Cookie mate.... I'd hate for you two to fall out and you to end up battering me by mistake. Plus he might add some valid ideas to the fray, not much chance of that happening from me.... :)

Anyway, back to the issue....
