Personally I'm with Pete, I can't wait to see whats left when the parasites are finally cut loose and asked to pay for themselves.

This bullshxt pre-madonna 'sponsored team' fantasy-land has been going on too long. The sooner everyone gets cut the better.

.

Parasites is a funny term considering the companies are feeding them
Id say pampered pets was a more realistic analogy.

Nah, they are like huge barnacles, slowing the predator down so it can't make effective kills anymore. The predator has to settle for smaller and lesser prey, making it weaker and slower.
They are like tapeworms, devouring what the animal eats so that even if it consumes more food, little nourishment is gained. The tapeworm just gets fatter and hungrier, the animal weaker.

I mean this all in a nice way of course.

Yeah but that analogy still only holds true if the host is unaware of the parasite.

The host IS NOT unaware of the parasite, and if you would use tapeworm as an analogy, the host is just feeding it more an more rather than ****ting it out.

Therefore, I'm not really too sympathetic to the companies.
Im not saying I am pro-tapeworm, or indeed anti-company, just that I dont think the company can complain too hard seeing as tehy are, if nothing else, prolonging the infection.

So in summary, yes it is positive that companies will be cutting sponsorships, but to paint it as some "wow phew we FINALLY managed to shed that atlas from our shoulders" type situation is bs frankly.

Perhaps if companies had figured this out 5 years ago and not fed the monster then it wouldnt have grown so big. Bit of hindsight, a beautiful thing.

Sweet, all we need now is a robotic dog, a long scarf, and an old school blue telephone box.

Saying to who?
You the teams, definitely not.
To me, yep.

Are their marketing/accounts people blind or stupid or somesuch?
"hey were pouring cash into something that isnt seeing returns....lets keep up the good work!" ...

"wait...someones .....taking....free....stuff....that we are happy to give them in the hope of getting results....and their not getting results.....what COULD WE POSSIBLY DO TO RECTIFY THIS???!?"

Can you see what im getting at?
Why has it taken this long for companies to realise there is an atlas on their shoulders, which they helped mount there; and therefore why is it such a releif to be rid of these parasites? what was stopping them until now?

I liken it to unilateral disarmament. No-one wants to get rid of thier nukes until everyone else does.

Thats kinda what I figured, as it makes sense to have some kinda (maybe even unspoken) agreement to not fund players etc.

The cuts need to happen unilaterally, granted.

I still fail to see why all the blame goes on the players though.
Greed cant be entirely to blame imho.
