Repping your Sponsors and Misbehaviour

I think that many players and mostly newer ones do not really realize that when you are X team from X field or sponsored by X company that you are the face of that field/company.

Be it on or off the paintball field, on a forum or even when your out in the general public. I don't think you see the likes of Pro players acting in that manor.

The way you act in general reflects the sport itself not to mention the people who are supporting you.

I wouldn't want anyone representing my brand/company going around ruining what reputation you had built.

For example wearing your Planet Eclipse clothes getting totally pissed and telling off the general public on your way to a pub or club. It just doesn't reflect on the company or sport well.

That's why you wear a shirt in Russian which no ones understands when in that situation.
Which is one of the reasons why I TRY to be fair in my modding here. After all, in a sense I represented PGI and now I still represent the site and in a way Pete...

Generally speaking, we are assuming that people who accept sponsorship of some kind, whether reduced pricing structures or free product, should then representing that company in a responsible manner.
The moral obligation is most certainly there as well as the professional one.

This assumption disintegrates however when we consider the character of some of these individuals .....
These sh!tbags are the sort of people who believe sponsorship is owed to them just because they call themselves ballers.
These guys have never won diddly-squat, and never will, but still believe they are doing the sponsor a favour by wearing their gear or using their product.

These sh!tbaqs then wear the sponsor tag like a medal, to parade in front of other ballers for what they feel, to be bragging rights, with no mind whatsoever directed toward responsible promotion.

Is it any wonder these scumbags then go on to act like children and thrust their sponsors under the spotlight of disapproval?
Anyway, I hear Markie C has done the right thing and cleared the sh!t out of his stable ...... full points to Markie !!!

People need to realise that paintball companies are struggling right now, and perhaps start supporting the sport we claim to love.

Fair exchange is no robbery

I could make a massive long post, but its a sore subject for me as I think there are too many kids running around with sponsorship that perhaps shouldnt have it, but thats life :p

sigs said:
MY VIEWS DO NOT REPRESENT THOSE OF MY TEAM OR TEAM SPONSORS
then why have your team/sponsors repped in the same said sigs!?
..not a dig at any one in particular as many people have such disclaimers.

Just seems like a cop out, like yeah i'm not responsible for anything.

Next year's sponsorship landscape is gonna resemble an apocalyptic aftermath!!!

Not to be over-dramatic but I have been given some figures from a study that was commissioned earlier this year that shows our sport's decline is not gonna be over for some time yet.

What wasn't factored into this analysis was the present economic crisis we now see unfolding across the world's financial arenas ..one can only assume, it ain't gonna improve the figures I already have before me.
As to what degree it negatively affects the existing downward slide is obviously open to conjecture but to put it bluntly, 'it don't look good' is probably an understatement of all understatements.

The reality is gonna be catastrophic for a lot of teams out there in La La Land and I say 'La La Land' for good reason.
These teams have been living a lie, and the lie is, they are value for money ...they are not, nowhere near it and that fact alone will have financial execs across the paintball spectrum scurrying for their erasers ....trust me on that one !!
The halcyon days of team sponsorship will come to an end in 09 with only a select few being supported and these will effectively be factory teams, teams like the Ironmen for Dye and Philly Americans for Smart Parts ..... when you start to look outside of these factory teams ... you have to start assuming they are gonna be hit hard.
But this isn't such a bad thing because it will necessarily change the culture of sponsored teams and that's something that should have happened a long time ago ..the quicker that happens, the better as far as I am concerned.

Yeah the stables are going to be empty for many companies in 2009. I am just wondering if the NPPL & PSP will realize that they will have to run their events concurrently to be able to survive this crisis or keep at how they are and hope that the other drops off first.

Seeing that even this year you have seen some major teams drop from the NPPL it would be in their best interest to be the ones to start the kiss and make up process.

I'm not saying cancel one format over the other but to host one mother of an event at the same location instead of separate locations and dates, run the same formats, saves the teams travel costs and also saves the industry most of their overhead due to transport, employee wages as well as sponsorship dollars.

Next step once that happens is getting all of the industry, leagues, teams and players to focus and try to gain ground on pitching the sport that people say they love and live for into the olympics. Only with the focus of the world looking onto the true serious competitive sport that we know it as, not the one Joe Public thinks is just a laugh in the woods, will the current level of tournament paintball ever survive the way the market is going.

In what way do you think we will see the culture of sponsored teams change?Maybe players on a sponsored team will feel proud to be in that position rather than assuming the sponsor should be proud to have them represent their brand?

He's saying that you're all cut, except the ones that are worth it. There are about 6 teams that are worth it, worldwide, and none of them are in the UK.

Personally I'm with Pete, I can't wait to see whats left when the parasites are finally cut loose and asked to pay for themselves. It will be a smaller and way healthier sport. It might finally be worth advertising and promoting something, knowing that participants will actually be required to pay their way.

This bullshxt pre-madonna 'sponsored team' fantasy-land has been going on too long. The sooner everyone gets cut the better.

Know what you can have when nobody's don't get sponsored anymore?
You can have prizes. You can have things worth winning. I would rather see the winners of an event get a rich prize than the guys that came 5th get some free gear. Bring back the 'law of the jungle' and UK ball will get healthier.
