Nobody in the UK wants a league structure. Everyone that has posted above is lying through their arse
Personally I think thats a little dramatic and I think with structure UK paintballl would function alot better. I hope that with structure would come security for the players of all levels.

I take your point about price and thats the sad reality of life regardless of whatever is in question and it probably always will be.

And whats wrong with dreaming of women clad in nothing but whipped cream?

Most people in the UK are punters with their own hand canon, specially annoed, fully pimped and guaranteed to make them play better coz they look the shiznit.
I look crap, but I do have a hot marker, its pink and has stars but has yet to make me play better lol

Missy Q has hit the nail on the head, People dont like forking out or it is not viable for them to pay that much.

If a league basis was going to be used, why not do it like the premiership, have cups which are played once a month or every so often and get teams travelling visiting all around the region like the midlands or the south. Get it so you are playing every weekend against other teams playing for the top spot of your league. Then travelling at the end of the season for the cup events or something. Surely cost isnt going to be as much at anyone time but like a standard green fee every weekend when you have to play goes to the tournament organisers so its not as expensive and more playing time which i think will improve players and make more pro teams.

I hope that made sense lol

The Hype of '99

I think that Bug may be referring to Hyperball.

I was there, and I think we could recreate that atmosphere.

:D

It's always a question of money. You have to practice a minimum of one day a week to improve, besides playing events.

Concentrate on getting yourself a good paint deal, instead of the most expensive gun.

I'm a country member!
This is an interesting tread that has developed albeit including a fair amount of cynicism.

Putting my neck on the block there are currently too many people seeking a slice of the UK tournament paintball pie, a pie that currently seems to be shrinking in the oven of apathy and media fueled financial despondency.

The number of organisers that can put on a decent well run event in the UK can probably be counted on the fingers of one hand, but yet, almost weekly we see 'Play This New Series' posts on here. I'm not saying that these people are unqualified or unable to run a tournament, or a series, just that the more series there are, apathetic players and teams will opt for the one that is nearest and most financially viable for them, thus diluting the bigger picture and the general standard of play. Think of UK ball as a post card torn in to little pieces if you like.

If not a national league then at least a national governing body is needed to draw the organisers together so they are all working in the right direction in harmony. We have witnessed the downright stupid situation whereby there have been two or more events this season, on the same day and in the same area competing for the attendance of the same teams.

There needs to be something for everyone, from the 'Premier League' players right down to the 'Pub Team' Players, or it will be just left with one or the other. From this a few elite teams of keen kids picked out of obscurity and drilled until they play like machines can be put up to play the European series and beyond.

Maybe we haven't even seen the best organiser and the best UK series yet, but I have been TOLD that there WILL be a National League next year, we'll wait for that to happen.

In the meanwhile UK players mostly need to get over themselves, accept that they are not going to live the rock star lifestyle and attract major (or any) sponsorship just by playing with their mates, that they have to work hard for that, and that spending their spare cash on paint and training will improve their game far more than the latest fashion accessory that makes them look so much cooler.

.

I was there too, at both Hyperball events, but are you sure Bug was referring to those events?

The reason I ask is because those events were held in 96 and 97 as far as I can remember and I cannot see the connection between those and what Bug quoted as the hype of 99 ...

If teams will commit to a new league, and organisers can work together to make it happen, then I would suggest a 7 man unlimited semi format, no ramping.

By team commitment I mean money and attendance.

Ledzy and Nicky T will be posting later today and I really look forward to what those two guys have to say.
I am not in any disrespecting any other posters here by inferring their input isn't as valid but I know Ledz and Nicky well and they have invaluable experience and a great take on the UK marketplace.

Somewhere amongst this plethora of posts the real answers lay in wait, the trick is, teasing them out .... I will try and do so in a few days after we have had more guys come up with ideas but the harsh realities of Missy Q's have hit home and send the optimistic among us reeling backwards ....
I like the idea of a light at the end of a tunnel and so let's hope someone can switch it on for us all.
