Not per se. Holland is below sea level, and we learned from our floodings. The last major one was in 1953 and made us build the Delta Works, which keep us pretty damn safe...

In fact, some of the people that worked on that are now working in Nouveau Orleans.

...if you are so struck with a moral conscience regrading the wealthiest nation of all time, then take whatever money you think you could have allocated and give it to the NSPCC or Great Ormond St Children's Hospital..... there can be no greater cause in my book !!!!

And when considering how much to give, I am reminded by a similar question that was put to a man of the cloth some time ago, and his response was, 'give as much as it takes to hurt you a little' .... wise words I think.
