maybe one 7man division at the 5man tourneys or something like that, but the 7man tourneys can't have been viable for wendy to cancel them?
its all to do with positioning nationally, the 7man wendy put on wasn't in the right place (no offence to Wendy).

We only need to have a small 3 or 4 leg 7man tourney with 10-15 teams to make it work.

I think we should have a vote on here, mods, can we have a pole those in favour of a 7 man and those not, also those that are not sure.

:)

You guys allowed Bully's 7 man series to fold due to lack of support
PA changed from 7 man to X-ball because that's what the players wanted
UK Masters dropped 7 man due to lack of support
3 major tournie organisers with burnt fingers due to lack of support for the 7 man
Now you want it back dream on, you were warned that X-ball and X-ball lite was expensive
But no you all still wanted it 7 man is dead X-ball is the way forward were the cries

These people that go on about how many games and tournies people play

In 2003, 2004 or 2005 there were more events played in the UK than are currently timetabled for 2008 and most of them were 7 man.

i think the problem we are faced with is not the format, the number of players or the location. its commitment.

we have two groups of commitment and a very big divide inbetween.

Lower Group
those that cannot play as frequently as they like. be it money or travel or whatever.
those who take it all as a social event and have the commitment level of a teen chav to his up the duff chavvett

Upper Group
those that have been lucky enough to be near to a "large" training field to get down there regularly and get seen playing and selected for a sponsorship. or have parents or jobs that can fund their obsession no matter where it takes them.

the upper group tend to be able to play here there and everywhere. they tend to want a competative event rather than a muck about with the lesser teams so train for and go to the mills. The best teams from europe and england to play in the mills because they can afford to off their own backs or they have the talent for the sponsorship bucks. Its very rare that a weak team will be willing to pay to go to the mills or get a package offered to get them there. hence the better competition at the mills. and now they have dropped the 7 man format people still go there and play... why because its better competition thus more fun.

7 man in the uk regardless of how many players you can get will still in my eyes continue to be a failed format because of the lack of competition for the better teams who would still prefer to go for mills for better games in order for 7 man to succeed i feel that one CENTRAL field location should be set up and rather than the money grabbing antics of all the different regional tourneys, a new and NATIONAL series should be set up offering the best competition. Xball too can be held on this large field at a NATIONAL level.
thus allowing for teams to have their aspirations of playing against GOOD teams, brought closer to home and made more of a reality.

dont know if that makes sense to anyone else but i felt like adding my two cents.

That about sums it up

look, i don't want this getting into another why it all failed **** talk session, i might stand on a few toes here, but who cares about the past event organisers, its what happens now that matters.

The fact that there were too many event organisers stepping on each others toes (and don't tell me they didn't) made a big hole in the progression of 7 man in the UK. Teams were still around to play the 7 man leagues, but not all over the country.

I just want to know one thing, who would still play 7man if it was available and then discuss where the best possible place for it to be would be.

And in this instance i'm talking to people who still play ball (me now included as i've started again after a year off), what do you want to do?

I've heard it from all the leagues that they've had to do this that and the other to "accomodate" the players, but i don't think they've done enough. And to be quite honest some of these people need to stick to a plan and see it through for the good of UK "tournament" paintball.

I'm going to do a poll on who wants to play it, who doesn't like it and who is not sure at this moment.

Lets be honest, times change, people change, new blood comes in and the wheels of evolution go round.

Lets hear it from the "players"!
