This is what I am talking about

Russell Smith

The Paintball Association
Well since I have been invited into the debate!

Oliver used to love the PA and was a great supporter, I think in four or five events they played he even won a couple of games and then it all went tits up for him and for some reason we/I are no longer on his Christmas card list.
So every opportunity he has he attempts to twist the knife.
I don't lose sleep about it and I am sure he is not losing sleep about me but admit it or admit it not the PA is the only league that is trying to further paintball, the rest are just trying to make a wage.

With that said he brings up a good point about our friends abroad and indeed the website looks very nice.
But we are not abroad are we, we are in the UK and to further paintball we have to do it the way the Sports Council tell us they need to see it done.
A nice web site and stand alone events that you just pay for whatever division you want to play is not among them.
Being a not for profit company running a closed structured league is only a tiny bit as well but completely necessary.
I have expressed many points I believe will help paintball grow and as much as everyone is valid paintball will only grow if we help increase traffic substantially to the sites and the main reason I am running a series is meet part of the criteria that the SC demand.
The main stumbling block with the application is another application by Delta force who I believe have no particular interest in representing paintball but want to make sure their interests are not affected.
I am hoping because of dialogue I have instigated with Delta Force we can get past that and we may well see some benefit for all.

Let me give you one of my old suggestions, it will generate you some cash for team funds and also help paintball!

1, Find yourself a local site and do a small commission deal on players you take to the site.
2, Every one of your team members try and get ten people (workmates and friends) to try paintball.
3, You take them to your local site and maybe even help marshal the day for some extra cash.
4, Try and do that half a dozen times a year. its good for you, its good for your team, it's good for the site, it's good for the first timers and its bloody great for paintball.
If half the teams did that just once a year we would have thousands of new players who already know how to progress to another level if they want.

Bagpuss,

I was not going to say this but why not, If the PA is so bad why have I been asked if the closed league has a spot for your "pro" team.

Russ

It hasn't :)

I believe belgium was a bad example as it is geographically and in population terms much smaller than the UK and therefore can probably only support a single league.
QFT

If you were to have the whole of GB united under one league, you'd have about 15 local teams in each event and only the committed, the rich and the insane would travel to the other events. It just wouldn't work.

Bagpuss, if you're not willing to listen to the information Stongle among others is trying to give you, i suggest you get yourself a nice wall and a comfy chair and start yacking.

Something SupAir players are not aware of is that the National Paintball Club has over 200 woodland members and the scenario scene are looking to moving towards full membership including insurance and registration. SupAir needs to get off its high horse and get in line.

Whether you play woodland or supair, you all play recreational paintball and to get any further we need unity not division. Currently we have Woodland Vs SupAir & SupAir Vs SupAir. Not an ideal situation by any stretch of the imagination
This is 100% the way forward, unfortunately anyone enlightened enough to believe that is sadly in the minority (or not as vociferous as some).
Indeed, as in one governing body that everybody subscribes to, rental sites, scenario, walk-on and tournament, the only true way forward for both recognition and unity.

Its got naff all to do with the number of leagues, or the number of teams playing those leagues.

I don't actually get how some people can go about spending a whole season criticising every aspect of a league they can attack, be it the refs, venues, organiser, formats etc. and then having done so complain about the state of the sport they profess to love so much.

we need a handful of excellently run national leagues which don't encroach up each others territory, we need a "board" of league organisers who can hold discussions with each other (talk, not argue) and last but not least we need a good mix of formats at each league to allow teams to support their favourite gametype.

..... it would appear we need a miracle ;)
