The problem with holding something like that in Blackpool is the risk of damaging the sport in the public eye.

Blackpool is a boozing town - it's based around getting bladdered, getting felt up by some scouse slapper, then getting fleeced in one way or another. (usually robbed by said slapper)

It only takes one bloke to buy a paintball marker (even the toy ones) get bladdered then shoot his mate in the eye before the press will pounce on such a "dangerous" sport.

We all know that's bollocks, and that it is safe as long as each and every participant values their eyesight and follows the rules of goggs on, all the time, no matter what when your barrel sock is off.

But, the press don't ask for details, they just presume that 5 minutes of google time is enough to understand the sport.

If that was the case then it would have happened there already, as there is a very dodgy looking shop :D on the prom that sells paintball markers and has been there at least 4 years. Watch out for the crossbows etc that you have to avoid just to get to the paintball equipment

I think it is up to us as responsible tournament players to step up to the plate and show the public how the game should be played, and how we take safety issues - marker, goggles and air fill safety - very seriously.

This has the potential to be a really great event if it is done properly.

As WDP might once have said -

"I don't feel like playing in the woods today. Let's go to the beach instead."

:)

Just paying my respects to WDP and their huge contribution to tournament ball.

Before they put on their NPPL events, they ran the limited paint 5 man & Atlantic Star 6 man at NTF, and I know a lot of players (including myself) have very fond memories of these.

......and I may be able to persuade Blackpool Council to host the event in a purpose-built sports stadium.
