i very much doubt it was anything remotely terrorist related going on at this paintball centre, it's unfeasable

unless they could get an insular game which is unlikely as they would need 40 or so people-a scenario unlikely to go unnoticed by the centers' staff

just a media thing i presume, 'terrorists train at paintball center' used to sell more copies or get more hits/viewers i guess

I get a call from mi5 about once every 2 months.

They ask me to look out for certain names if they try to book in.

I have told them its not open to the public but they still phone.

It might have something to do with that we are right next to the airport.

The first meeting with them was very surreal.

Phoned me up and said that they where the police and that they would like to see me because they are just putting a data base together for paintball sites.

Then they met me at work told me they are mi5/special branch and told me what it was about.

Juts call me.....C Markie C :)

Good on them i say.

Entirely possible that the two are unrelated. It's also entirely possible that the two are connected.

Imagine, this guy says to his Young fanatic followers "today we're going to go paintballing, it's just like war".

Having worked at a rental site as a Marshall for quite a few years, i've seen more than my fair share of Muslim youth groups come out for a day of paintballing, and take it quite sereiously. We know they were serious Muslims, because they were concerned about the "Animal" parts content of hte paintballs, and the type of food that was served. They took thier beliefs seriously.

What i'm shocked about is the number of replies saying "Rubish" or "The media are exagerating"

It's not really that far fetched, and as paintballers, we have to be aware that at some point people are going to make an ascociation between Rental paintball, and terrorist training. THe fact is that they were training to be terrorists, and were planing to go over seas, and they played paintball. Given that most rental days of paintball are pretty much a "military expereince" it seems very possible they considered paintballing as a form of training.

Real or unreal, I always find these things funny.

What's the point in training your terrorist recruits in fighting in the forests? It's not like there's much in the way of targets there for them, is there?

I can see it now...
"Okay boys, you have all been trained for this moment. Today we start our holy war against the infidels! Today we attack them in their heart!"
And so they storm into London, not having a clue what to do, as they are quite adapt at hiding in a ditch, but tend to stick out a little when running around The City dressed as a tree...

If they managed to get their hands on some guns, and shot up london, i don't think that would be too funny.

A day of paintballing might give them the impression they were capable of doing something like this.

Given the tendancy for these chaps to blow themselves up, its entirely possible. Dressed as a tree or not, if they decided to shoot up a shoping mall or something, there would be little in the way to stop them. The cops in London aren't even armed!

I'm really suprised at the dismissive attitude taken by the paintballers on this forum, but i do appreciate the intelectual capacity in which it is expressed.
Can you imagine if i posted this on PrePubeNation?

I don't think it is a dismissive attitude, I believe it is an understanding that pathetic individuals will always be around and we will not let them control our lives be they the people who complain about a youth group being set up at the end of the street or brainwashed idealist who genuinely believe that if they sacrifice their life for the cause they will go to "their heaven" and spend eternity with a hundred Virgins.
If they convinced me there was ten dirty slappers waiting they may have a chance I would join them but Virgins......... Please.

I am more bothered by the......... well if I told you that I would probably get banned.

haha i think 'PrePubeNation' is the best way of describing it!

i just think it's hard to see a connection because nearly all the western world see's terrorism as suicide bombings and plane crashes, it is not often seen as gunfighting and tactics, which we associate with paintballing, recball or tourney.

i imagine all of these young people, children even, have been brainwashed into hating the western world. if they were sent back to the middle east to fight, then i reckon it would be easy for their 'leaders' to say to them - 'remember paintball, this is just the same, 'cept they don't get back up'
