If you could change one thing...

Russell Smith

The Paintball Association
Leagues.

We used to have the Home Counties, Midland and Northern leagues and at the end of the season we had another event for all the top four from each division in a neutral site play off.
I thought it was fine but it failed after two or three years and the team I was in had to go out of our area to get the competition we needed.

I agree it (done correctly) could be a good thing but, when the leagues used to run it was all ten man woodland.
What would we do now. Woodland or Sup-air.
I assume you would vote sup-air so what format 5 man, 7 man or make it a real game and play Xball.

It would be easy to arrange and sort out - I could do it in a weekend but and there is always a but. Who would the teams trust to do it.
Now lets make another assumption, It's sorted the leagues are in place and everything is ready to roll and Mr or Mrs X want to run there own event it is wrong to say no you can not so the teams are then cajoled into playing even more events than they can afford.

Teams split, players leave the game and we start it all over again in three years.

Great idea and definitely the way forward eventually but I am not sure if the teams would really support it yet.

Russ

And to keep in line with the thread.
I would change the Organisers for a fresh batch or a least lock them in a room with a mandate to get tournament paintball sorted.

To Cut out the attitude of some players and make our sport "FUN" all of the time, and not have your day spolied by some over-competitive egomaniac:mad:

Similar to the majority (above):

Introduce an International Governing Body which actually had the power to 'run' paintball.

This organisation would:
- consolidate the leagues,
- dictate the format,
- control gun/marker purchases,
- talk to governments about paintball-specific legislation (HP air, rate of fire, etc)
- be supported by the manufacturers and be able to set guidelines for gun manufacture and performance,
- make it very difficult for new tournament series to operate outside of the Governing Body's umbrella,
- more to follow;)

In other words, go along the lines of the FIA's involvement in Formula 1.

To cut cheating, I propose the immediate invention of a body suit that players must wear on field. If a paintball bursts on said suit on say, the arm, then the arm goes rigid. A player can play on...... if he can. I would say, chest shot, back shot, head shot makes whole suit go rigid.

Be quite fun watching someone reload if they've been shot in both legs and one arm :)
