keka I dont know where the oil came from if it is oil at all and not just the plastic liner on its own that caught fire on its own. The point is this can happen with that design of bottle and has happened 3 times so far.
I think the main point here is not where did this or that come from or arguing about posible situations the simple fact is that this has happened with 3 bottles so far all of the same design from the same Manufacture this has happened with other Manufacture bottles zero times as i said before how many more times is this going to have to happen before we say there is enough proof.
Even if you dont have one of these bottles you should still be worried as you may be the person that gets hit by it when the fire melts the reg and the bottle flys off toward you .

I agree 100%

Using a Stakko is not worth the risk.
Simple as that.

Well even after someone as knowledgeable as Trevor from H-Pac who has forgot more than the rest of us are likely to ever know has said what the probable cause of the incident is.
We still have people who (because they have decided the scientific sequence of events) are still claiming the bottle failed.
The Bottle has not failed.

Perhaps it was the guns fault - I think the last one was also pink!

Cylinder Failure

Hi,
we only know of 3 failures, 1 in Madrid when we found the can of oil on the table after the event, one at a Dye training camp and we have seen that cylinder and this one yesterday, all were stakos with plastic liner all we oil induced but only difference was at our event the oil came from an aerosol and we dont know about yesterdays, we only work to breathing air standard so we have a known quality to work to.
Obviously once you add something to burn ie oil or vapours then any cylinder could have a internal fire, a plastic liner will possibly conduct heat more slowly than an alloy one but if you fill slowly and remove the combustiable material no fire will occur, once the fire occurs the internal pressure rises rapidly and the burst disc ruptures the the burning gases will act like a blowtorch as they travel through the regulator and once sufficient material has been burnt away then the reg and cylinder will part company, the fire only lasts for milliseconds and i dont think the plastic liner would burn at a sufficient speed to cause this problem.
Stako have been in touch with me and are anxious to find the root cause.

regards

Trevor

The bottle did not fail but was it responsible for the series of events that led to the explosion?

If I hold someone down while someone else kills them, I am not considered to be the murderer but I am still culpable. I am still part of the act and a contributor to the end result.

I say again...

Have you ever seen any other reg/tank combo explode like the Stakkos have recently. In all your years of paintball?

The issue doesn't even need definitive proof that the tank is at fault or the reg or the airsystem as a whole etc etc etc. It is clear there is a problem when a Stakko is used in the paintball environment and therefore, whether it is the tank that is at fault or not, should not be used in the paintball environment.

If you had player turn up to the PA with a gun that would shoot 30bps at 450 fps and could not be turned down, you would not allow that gun to be used but if I turn up with a tank that has the potential and a history of exploding and injuring people you would let me play?

I am gobsmacked by some of the posts on this thread.

I am no expert but I know this has happened as I have been present at 2 of the last 3 occurrences and have seen the damage done to the players and can see the potential damage this could do to paintball.

bottle failure

The cylinder has been proved safe in the TUV test but look at the outside contributions, a contaminant that burns and possible fill rate being high.
Without the combustiable contaminent no fire its simple so lets let the investigators come up with the answers as to how it was inside the cylinder.
I have a liner here from a stako but it will not burn by itself?
