Now most of us can only shoot 12bps I don't think it matters what gun we have. I have a 06 Ego and it is very nice and only cost me £275. I think you should Find what marker works for you and keep it.

I picked up my 06 etek for £165 with some freak bits, I've only had a bit of test with it in the garden so far but based on that I'm well happy. even to point where I'm considering selling off my other gear and buying another. I'm used to microswith triggers and LED programming so the lack of an LCD is of no consequence. The fewer programming options I have means there's less chance of me screwing it up :)

I'd say it's the same as why people spend fortunes (holding hands up!) myself included on things such as Oakley sunglasses instead of ones from Boots. At the end of the day when all the marketing hype has receded they both shield your eyes from the sun but you've GOT to have the Oakleys just because. Same with paintball gear, For those that can afford the Ego/DM 08's, SL's etc they will continue to be bought and sold and for whatever reason the buyer fancies giving.

P.S.
I've just Virtue'd up an Ion for a bit of rec ball sniping and it rips!!!
That said Oakley are a fashionable brand and they do make better quality products than a boots version. I don't really think that one paintball manufacturer is any more fashionable than another at the higher end of the scale.

Gassy, you have issues  we all know you don't like Ego's and this one is gonna be no different!! You will come back singing the Dangerous Power anthem and telling us what a great paper weight the Etek is.......... you really should consult your advisors fist.

You'd pay £200 - £300 quid for an LCD screen a couple of ounces and a comfy trigger? :p

Mine shoots paintballs.

:)

Um.... Yes, Yes and Yes... It's mostly the look I go for... Yes of guns and girls :p:p

Plus I find it easier to have an LCD screen and to program it that way.. LED's get on my nerves, and I'm not exactly a wizard so it's easier to open up a grip and enter the setup mode thingy and read instead of flicking through pages of manual before I find what I want :D

I would have had a second fusion but the etek2 is sort of a freebie so I will try it before it turns into a paperweight, then I will have another fusion:cool:

They all shoot the paint, and do the same job, i see it the more you pay then the more its supposed to do the job better basically, which isn't always the case, Gassy was saying at fatbobs about his "NYX matrix" (am i right there) being the best gun he's ever shot.

I think it's to do with todays society in someway here, the mainstreamers of people out there will all want the best marker, and the aspirers out there, will try to get the best out there, to look the part. (i looked at that in a media perspective) and im not accusing anyone of being that.. it's jsut a possibility. Most folk will probably jsut feel more comfortable with the newer higher end markers, over the lower end.

Me, i'm perfectly happy with my etek, nice and simple.. and does the job bloody well

Tinkering ain’t easy
Gotta agree with Markie on this one, if you have a "mid" price gun and enjoy it then all good and well, if it happily shoots as many bps as your tourney allows then thats great and it will be all you need.

But for those who can afford to have the latest model or a "higher" end gun then thats fine, its Kudos in part saying "Look at my gun, tis better than yours, and its going to kill you." I have had low, mid and high end markers and too me the higher end stuff just "feels" nicer and gives me that bit more confidence and self esteem.

Also if your team is sporting SL74's, you are already making the team your against all with ions wet themselves because they feel they going to get owned! lowers moral for them and makes yours higher
