i cant say about the dye range but how about the etek and ego

the etek doesn't come with a clamping feed neck and the same internals than the ego it doesn't have the same lcd display so on and so on.

i would pay for the extra to have the display because i cant be arsed to work out what flashing lights mean and the weight as well is a bonus.

but saying this i changed from a ego 06 to use a etek because i liked the etek trigger more it reminded me of a ego 05 which i loved never dug the star trigger but that is me.

There is a limit on how cheap you can go before quality is effected.

The ion has many parts which could do with replacing, same with PMR & SLG.

Slightly higher price but not quiet flagship guns such as the Mini, Fusion, PM8 are a full package and do the job just fine with little to no money spent on them... Therefore anymore as far as im concerned is overkill

LCD Screen, lighter,More comfortable trigger.. and loads of little things. Try before you buy, Kat! :D

Joe
LCD screen wont make you play better
Better internals dont affect anything 15bps and below
Regs just as good as you maintain them, all will get +/- 5 at least
triggers can be upgraded for £30 or less for any shape with roller bearings

so all moot points.

A gun is a gun, it fires paint.

The ion and maybe pmr are the only two guns that i wouldnt buy because of the emphisis on "newbie".

I was going to get an Sl74 but decided against it, as £700 on one marker is too much, especially second hand. A mini for £200 does the same job without the bells and whistles. As said above, lcd screen nice trigger ect..., point being that i would rather save money to train every week and stick with a gun under a couple hundred quid. The Sl had a lot of appeal due to being quite rare, but like i said, a gun be a gun.

An Sl barrel kit would be a good thing to have so you could fire different bore paint, but other than that nothing major difference for £500+

At the end of the day, you pull a trigger on a gun and a paintball comes out of the end, no matter what you choose to fire.

My 2p, sorry if i bored anyone

Cheers

I'd say it's the same as why people spend fortunes (holding hands up!) myself included on things such as Oakley sunglasses instead of ones from Boots. At the end of the day when all the marketing hype has receded they both shield your eyes from the sun but you've GOT to have the Oakleys just because. Same with paintball gear, For those that can afford the Ego/DM 08's, SL's etc they will continue to be bought and sold and for whatever reason the buyer fancies giving.

P.S.
I've just Virtue'd up an Ion for a bit of rec ball sniping and it rips!!!
