Shock=dead? I liked their jerseys...:tear:
on a different note, even though I have not had first hand experience I have heard from a good few in the UK and I'll sum up what they said. Basically, as it has already been stated, the UK ballers need to be more focused and have a killer mentality. The brits have always been known for their..."always look on the bright side of life" and their constant joking around makes them fun to be around, but I can see how it could possbily conflict with a rigourous trainning schedual. From people who have attended several serious practices from upper echelon teams (no names), even though there is a seriousness, there is a lack of a "I just ****ed up that game, I can't do it again". There is a lot more of a friendly attitude as opposed to a competitive, need to win one which is what is necessary to get anywhere. This is refereing to the Dynasty's "at the end of the day we need to get out aggression out so we shoot eachother up". That shows how serious and how into the practice they are.

i do believe swarm are playing PSP in div 2 this year, just a pitty not many can afford to do the same
Swarm are still only looking at playing in the states at the mo and believe me, the whole team are working together and making financial, social and physical sacrifices to progress in the sport we love!

i thin UK ball just does not have that mentality

for those of you that havent been to USA you should see all the kids they wanna rip pro teams to bits- aftermath a good example

for those of you who know me , i came back from the usa in 05 with nothing but what pebble is saying ,

but the uk wernt ready for it,

but with x ball becoming the dominating game maybe now is the time for that united shout" shoot em up, just shoot em up" a new breed of player a new look at competition.

but all this cannot be done without tournaments, and good tournaments at that,

not with bunkers that deflate half way between a game, not with fields that look as if someone just chucked them in there and pegged em down where they landed.......and not without CASH CASH CASH money prizes

the ion man for example ok its in the woods but cash money prizes, from this teams can actually gain something from a tournament not just two boxes of paint when the entry is like 800 pound

erererererer anger just brews up inside, i just wish i could win the lottery and do it my self,

do you think there dedicated to the right training tho. as i see some teams training. shooting lots of paint [which is not cheap] and i think why are you doing that.
i think this is the key point why uk ball is in a **** state, the mentality of players wanting to play at the best level they can are extremely limited.
people can blame costs etc as much as they want but as clint says players are happy to take a case of paint and instead of using it as a tool to get better would rather shoot it into a field demonstrating how fast there 8th new gun this season is.

and to those who are saying its the top levels players faults for not helping lower level teams progress, again this is rubbish. ive seen both nexus, shock nicky t etc all helping out lower level teams, tommy G was down helping out relentless on sunday, i know nicky ran 2 clinics this weekend, when i started shock and nexus offered a wealth of advise. speaking to sanchez a while ago about the shock clinic they were gonna run for a minimal fee, something like 50 quid for the day or something... and they got 3 people enquire which speaks volumes on how far players in the uk want to push themselves.

last year relentless were running drills for a morning, running and gunning at targets, breakout drills, laning etc.... overheard some kiddy saying "they need to stop shooting targets, the only way they will learn is by playing games"
words of wisdom right there? i think not but it does represent what 90% of ballers consider a good training session, train as much as ya want but if ya not training the right things in the right way you may aswell be at home watching the football.

just what it ever it takes to play is the answer , steal money from parents/ mug old ladies etc

just play the best league thats best to get you to progress , and do wha tever it takes

i thin UK ball just does not have that mentality

for those of you that havent been to USA you should see all the kids they wanna rip pro teams to bits- aftermath a good example

people in this country prefer sayin 'see you in the middle guy's' and are happy to lose to you instead of adapting

I agree to many UK teams go out there to have a good time and don't care about winning, winning is every thing to me!

It's all gone down hill since I stopped playing if you ask me

:)

It has changed though hasn't it.... not like it was even two years back.

I still think the problem is UK paintball trying to run before it could walk. You play some rec, get into it, then you are playing a national tourney.
No middle ground really..... more stuff like Ionman needed.
We need a decent 'Sunday league' level before we start trying for the world cup.

Staying warm on a sunday!
in a sport where internet persona's hold more ground than skills...

playing for a plastic cup and bragging rights...

for the time, effort and money people put into the game there is a distinct lack of product.

pfffttt..

its gone!

i think there are those who want a day of standing around socialising for 40 mins between their games and dont care if they win, and then those who love to play paintball and wants to be the best they can be at it. We're not getting enough of the second type in, so everyone is just turning to the first type (kind of, i think).

Some tourneys are just a social background and a little 'shooty shooty' whilst others are providing a true competition.

To get the players who are competetive we need to be recognised or at least out there. There are other sports that are alot more ££ than paintball but we need to be out there to allow people to make the choice.

just thought i'd throw that in the pot.
