Dm5 problem, HELP!!!

yeah robbed all the batteries from the smoke alarms, but the dont use much charge, so they could be flat/low.

I take it you do not have a spare board to try?

Little blob of what looks like paint right at the bottom of the board near the big black oblong (chip?)

Tried to take most of it out with a little paintbrush, could that be the problem, and what should i clean it out completely with?

Take the chip out & check all the pins are there it might be the chip...

Just a thought...

any ideas how i go about that without damaging the chip?

or do i just pull it out gently?

wide pliers or tweezers, you can use your finger & thumb just make sure it goes back in the same way..
There's a little notch on the edge of the chip to identify the way it goes in..
