Heya, just thought I'd post to see if anyone has had the same problems we're having now!

Sent two guns to Norway about 2 weeks ago for boobcamp (airline is very strict on guns)

Currently they're in customs and being held untill 25% of their worth is paid (we insured them too £500 so that would be £125) but on the box it apparently says £1000 so that would be £250.

Is there a reason for this or is it something that is practiced with every parcel coming into the country, could they possibly think it's a buy/sell or a gift?

Anyway, this possibility was not mentioned by royal mail when we posted the guns (£45 to do so) so do we have a leg to stand on with claiming any of that money back or is it going to have to be customs we argue with?

I'm just a bit confued with the whole situation so if anyone has delt with it or understands it a bit better then feel free to help!

Also, Ryan air are strict on the guns being sent on planes, is it worth atomising them and trying to sneek them through or is it more risk than it's worth?

Any experiences with this apprechiated also.

Thanks alot :)

Not really had any experience with this sort of stuff, but I would ring Ryan Air and then speak to one of them about it.

Arrange to have a note or something from a person who will be operating on that day or something.

Hey Kat
Not really had much to do with things like this either but I would imagine customs think they have been included in a sale.
Have you actually spoken to customs and explained the situation? The thing is they may need proof that you are the owners of the markers.
I would also try to get a written statement from the airline on their rules of Paintball markers as it may contain some info to battle customs with :)

I flew to Poland with Ryain air a few weeks ago (i know about there policies but I didnt book the tickets). The customs guys at Stanstead check your bags in front of you and they took the marker out flicked through the copy of PGI in my bag and said it was all fine.

On the way back I had no problems at all.

If you do fly with markers In your kit bag I wouldnt tell the airline at all, isnt that how the problem with ryain air started in the first place?

If both countries are in the EU then (normally) you are not obligated to pay anything to the customs office... But because Norway is not, theres nothing you can do about it. Import taxes apply. :(

If they are already yours and you shipped them out there then youve already paid tax on them and you aren't obligated to pay anymore.

Rind them up, explain the situation and you should be sorted...

But you arent techincally importing them if you are just using them for a week or wateva and then bringing them back...

I am sure as everyone has said if you ring them up all will be explain or sorted or not

The guy at the customs office cant know that though. And I seriously doubt that he will believe it, especially since it's insured and not traveling with someone.

good luck anyway!

EDIT: here we have a special form you fill out for temporary import of airguns, maybe there is something similar in norway?

I had have just packed them in my check in bag and kept my trap shut....

Hope you get it resolved though. And are you saying that somebody put a value of £1000 on the box without your knowledge?
