Drugs Indeed !
Mr Russell, I take offense to your insinuations, as you well know I am in fact an experienced drunkard and not yet a druggie !! Twas in fact an earthquake, so the earth did move for me at least once this year !! Big Rob called me after the tourney to ask if we missed him, I said yes cause unlike my nephew at least Rob can afford to buy us all a brew ! I wish we were playing the sup air event but I very much doubt it and I wont be here for the next woodland event (Jamaica calls) so it will be way later in the year before the Ionman sees a complete Manchester (note not Manc, we find that term offensive!) Lions team. So far this year we have not been able to put a full team together as Rob n Russ do other things in paintball such as the whole PA and both Paul and myself are UK refs. Yep those tw*ts who pull me out for spray (Anthony) are supposed to be my friends! John Boy is recovering from a slipped disc so we felt that it was blow the whole thing or come with what we had. Being no shirkers we came to play with three men. The first game was poor by our standards but the field is biast to the bottom end in a big way and the team we played have gone from strength to strength, and deserved the win. After the game one of the guys said to me "we dont think we beat the Lions" in respect of our weekend team but they beat the team we put on the field and we have no excuses and thank them for a good game. What got me from the event was that the "unique" scoring system made it impossible for us to get a max with any less than five players hence us dragging in my nephew. We would have had more points on the board if a, he hadn`t shot himself in one game and b, we had played him earlier. Going in to the final game my maths told me only a win without loss under six minutes could get us a top three place and the guys took that on board and worked really hard to get a result from a hard day. We had at least three games where we didn`t get a point and I feel that with our usual team we would have been far far more aggressive but we were sucked in to some rather naff draws by teams who should have really had a go at us. I found it hard not to attack but with depleted forces we all played a more subdued game than usual. I think I spoke to more people at this event than any other so far and really enjoyed some of the conversations. I won`t see you all for a while so good luck and keep smiling. Pete.
