Quoted from my fellow paintballer in Brunei:
Yo guys...
Just let you know we Bruneians paintball players have just had tough. A month ago (Black September), our one and only site has been raided by the CID with a warrent based on the firearms and explosives act which is represented as following:
“arms” includes firearms, air guns, air pistols, automatic guns, automatic pistols or any other kind of gun or weapon from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged, or noxious fumes can be emitted, and any part or parts thereof, but does not include a cannon known as bedil or meriam. For the purposes of this definition
“firearms” means a lethal barrelled weapon of any description but does not include a blowpipe of the type in common use in Brunei Darussalam.
Now we have actually talked to quite a number of lawyers, government officers who say paintball markers is NOT represented in the arms and firearms and explosive act. And alot of people do not understand why they would do this -aside from someone high up wanting to take over the owner's business so they can do it for themselves.
Just to clarify-Brunei has paintball in the grey area. It is not recognised and approved by the police as an association. We have never run this sport as an association - so they cannot screw us with that as well. But from what I know its run as a sports company - which makes it valid.
I am writing here not for answers - at this moment it looks like we are going to bring the authorities to court. But I'd like to let you know for those who already have paintball in their countries - appreciate what you have as people down here have to try to fight for Paintball.
If you have any suggestions or you can somehow help. Please post here.
